Look through the list of casualties for both the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars. Spend some time looking at names, faces, and biographical information. You can also look at the numbers, if you are more comfortable with this.

After reading these articles and "On the Rainy River" WRITE a ONE page, double spaced journal that considers the following: What is O'Brien's attitude toward the war and the draft? Who does he feel should be drafted? What are the opinions of others regarding the military draft? What are some of the arguments that are made within the Op-Ed's? What are your thoughts about national service, who should serve, and how? If there existed a national service that did not involve combat, would you be willing to join? Why or why not?
