bike sharing has taken the market by storm and the demand has taken an increase since it had been launched. The merchants have also increased and now there are a variety of companies that are in the market to provide a competitive price point. However the general flow is that the price tends to decrease.

when this had first began the price was isolated to just the rental of the bike, however now the price also includes a deposit that is as high as 50 dollars. this is primarily to ensure that the bikes are handled with care.

Due to the high demand the companies are increasing the supply and at the same time reducing the cost. As the market is so competitive due to the number of private companies. Each company provides attractive rates in order to get more people to take their product instead.

There are 3 bike sharing app now which are Ofo, Obike and Mobike. These are price elastic. As if there is a slight change in prices of any of these bike sharing apps, people will very lightly switch to another app as it is a substitute. This is one of the determinants of Price Elasticity of Demand.

The bike sharing is an idea initiate by government which aims for Singapore to be a greener city by using bike a more environmental friendly way of transport, their plan is to have bikes easily accessible for rental which encourages citizens to choose the greener way of travelling.

The government plan have introduce bike sharing business from overseas(ofo) and locally(oBike), which would provide bike rental services for the citizens.

POSITIVE SPILLOVER
With the bike sharing services in operating it would results to lower human traffic while taking public transport as some of the citizens would have prefer riding a bike to its destination. With the lesser demand of public transport(during non-peak hours) it would reduces the number of operating transport which in turn contributes in building a greener city.

There are always a pro and con side.

NEGATIVE SPILLOVER
The problem however is that the users of these bikes have taken advantage of the luxury provided and use it in a way which burdens the people around, example are, parking the bike in the middle of walking pathway which blocks the way of the other people. Other problems are people hogging up the rental bikes by putting locks on it or parking in their home premises, which greatly reduces the number of bikes available for the other users.

The bike business are introducing new plans to resolve the problems face, by introducing bike parking areas and adding tracking devices, the government had also tries to resolve by implementing fines for misused of the rental bikes.
