In modern days, surveillance is more common than ever. You can see CCTV cameras everywhere, from buildings to shops, public spaces, streets and so on. People are being watched everyday from these cameras for their own safety. For example if something illegal happens, a camera might capture the moment of the incident and then the authorities take place. But are we really safe? We sacrifice our privacy without even being asked by someone if we really want to. 

If you think of it in another way, it’s more likely to be a way to control the people. You can’t do anything because the authorities will find out anytime soon. For example you cannot protest anymore. The government can identify protesters and immediately be arrested, so the weapon of resistance fades away. 

Photographers cannot anymore use their cameras to capture public spaces because of surveillance reasons. Why is it happening and why people can’t use pictures from certain places. Photographers will no longer be able to take pictures in public and I will finish with this note from ‘Escaping the panopticon’. “Perhaps the determination not to be ‘shooed away like a pigeon’ but to resolutely defend the right to stand, stare and take pictures in a public square seems almost whimsical in the face of the power of the contemporary surveillance state. Yet, as muddled authoritarianism interposes itself further and further into our everyday's social relations, the commitment to negotiate rights, responsibilities and the limits of freedom with one another may soon become a vital act of resistance and solidarity.”
