Henry II was successful for another reason as well as the previous point made. Henry did not have much money as he started being king as all of the money and power was with the church so Henry introduced a tax called 'Scutage' which was literally just a war tax.

Unsuccessful : The main reason which made Thomas Becket unsuccessful was that he angered the king especially as the king was his friend. He angered the king because he wouldn't make changes to the position which he was given (which was a fair point) because he said if I'm going to have this job I am going to do it properely. So many miners died so cornwall and devon started to mine tin and by 1355 there was no tin left to mine.
Priests
When people got the plague they went to the priest to pray which then gave them the plague and with the bible being written in latin that only priests could read so they changed parts of the bible to english so that priests would not be in danger of getting the plague as people would not go to church because they could actually read the bible at their homes.
Wages
Peasents wer paid the same amount of money as the last person who worked there so lets say a peasent was earning £25 a year and another person was earning £200 if the peasent went and did that job after the Black Death he would have to be paid £200 a year. E.g. Matteo fu Angelo was earning £25 before BD and £200 after BD.
In the period of the black death it was the first time women could work equally with men but it was not really due to equality more so a neccesity.
