  • No they should not change the history of these stories because this will give kids a false sense of what the gods were like. Then they grow up thinking that the gods and goddesses were loving and happy when most of the stories we hear about are about them cheating and killing.

I do  agree with people saying that Disney’s version does not represent the story the way it is supposed to be told. The reason why I think that it is ok is that Disney Channel is a channel that is primarily for kids and known for their kid friendly shows, that have adult humor here and there, but they are primarily for kids. If Disney hadn’t changed up the story a little it would have been too gruesome for kids to enjoy the story in a more fun way. In conclusion, yes they should have changed the story and the way that they presented some of the gods because some of the gods are not appropriate for younger children. In reality Zeus and Hera aren’t such a happy couple Hera is actually a horrid person, killing one of her children, using Zeus for his power,etc. But That isn’t something children need to understand just yet, yes teach kids about this but twist it so they can use the information and see the good.

His heinous acts include turning his first wife into a fly and eating her, staying constantly unfaithful to Hera, tricking Pandora into being a burden on humanity, and even chaining Prometheus to a rock and letting an eagle devour his liver. However, as a god he kept humanity in check. He is considered the father of gods and all men, and his main job was to protect humans/mankind. He did this by keeping order when humans were in hysterics(wars and other massive altercations). He is impulsive and power hungry more than he is a leader or a boss of any sort. Throughout the stories that we have learned if Zeus was involved he would give off a sense of entitlement or just give a terrible reaction. I believe that Zeus is an example of a ruler who let power and popularity get to him. He consistently commits adultery and participates in incestuous relationships. He never treated the gods with any sort of equality and would instead pick a favorite and treat them with more respect, he did this with Athena , who was his favorite, and Apollo, who was not. In my opinion a proper leader should be able to be caring, equal, and understanding and Zeus has not shown any of those qualities. I do understand that the story is extremely messy and portraying Zeus’ and Hera’s characters accurately would’ve ended terribly. I believe they could have made some of the truth into a sort of comedic relief rather than completely ignore the fact that it exists. They definitely made a better choice than just straight up showing all the heinous and disturbing acts that went on in the family. Their decision to censor the truth of the relationship isn't necessarily a bad thing but it should have been a little avoided. Of course, it is Disney and they have to censor most things, but I still think that they could've done the censoring better to depict the story correctly, while still leaving it as a child friendly movie. I believe it was a good idea that wasn’t fully thought out.
