Vorteile & Nachteile eines Gefängnisses:

 

Vorteile: 

-          Chance eine Ausbildung zu erlangen. Maßnahme der Gefängnisse zur Umerziehung der Straftäter und zur Hilfe zurück in ein normales Leben zu finden
-          Das Leben in der Gemeinschaft wird durch wegsperren von Straftätern sicherer/ungefährlicher
-          Psychologen & Sozialarbeiter helfen bei der Problemlösung der Insassen

 

Nachteile:

-          Die meisten Häftlinge sind nach längerem Aufenthalt nicht mehr in der Lage ein normales Leben zu führen, einen Platz in der Gesellschaft zu finden
-          Während des Aufenthaltes lernen Straftäter dazu, werden schlauer durch den Austausch mit anderen Insassen, um nach der Freilassung schwerwiegendere Delikte zu begehen
-          Nicht durchdachte rehabilitation für die Insassen
 

Alternativen zum Gefängnis:

-          Sozialstunden
-          Wohngemeinschaften mit streng geregelten Tagesabläufen (6 Uhr Frühsport usw.)
-          Elektronische Fußfessel: streng überwachter Tagesablauf, aber man wird nicht aus dem sozialen Gefüge herausgerissen 
-          Tatausgleich : Täter zahlt eine bestimmte Geldsumme an die Opfer, dabei müssen aber beide Seiten zustimmen

Historische Entstehung:

-          Gefängnisse gab es schon im Mittelalter hatten aber einen anderen Nutzen
-          Freiheitsentzug galt damals nicht als Strafe
-          Gefängnisse standen nur für den Aufenthalt der Straftäter bis zur Verhängung ihrer Strafe ( Bsp.: Todesstrafe) 
-          Später im 16. Jahrhundert entstand der 1. Vorläufer der Gefängnisse ( Zuchthäuser/Arbeitshäuser von Kirchen erbaut usw.)
