The young guy and the old man reached the top of the highest mountain. For some minutes, the old man seemed too tired to speak.

Then he said at last, Not long ago I guided people up this mountain. The very old man, he isn't old, but about three years ago, a terrible thing happened to him. In less than one day, his hair changed from black to white, his body became weak, walking makes him shake and a shadow now scares him. He feels nervous when he is on this "little mountain" (it was about five hundred meters high).

Far of the little mountain there are two islands, one called Vurggh and another called Moskoe.
The old man and his two brothers were fishing around the islands of Moskoe and Vurggh. The water between the two islands looked very unusual.
So, the sky was covered by a great storm cloud. In less than a minute the storm reached them. The sky was completely black. Because of the darkness, they could not see anything. They were going into the whirlpool called maelström, and nothing could save them.
Some seconds later, the boat was swept into the whirlpool. But the boat seemed to hang on the inside of the whirlpool. The boat was going down and down, but the movement was very slow. There <del>are</del> were others things around the whirlpool. Lighter things did not fall faster than heavier ones.
At the turn of the tide, smaller things went up to the sea again, so he tied himself to the water barrel. A time later, a boat found him and took him out of the water. His brothers were lost at sea.

The Stolen Letter

On a dark, windy evening in Paris in the fall, C. Auguste Dupin and his friend were sitting in Dupin's library, smoking pipes. The Chief of the Paris Police, Monsieur G., suddenly walked into the room. He wanted Dupin's opinion about an important matter.

An important woman had a very important letter stolen from the royal apartments. The thief was known to them, and he was seen when he took it, and he still has the letter. The thief was a government minister, Minister D_. The woman could not tell anything because there was a third person in the room, and she didn't want this person to see the letter.

Mounsier G. and the police have searched the Minister's rooms. They searched his rooms every night for three months, but they found nothing. If he found the letter, the owner would give him a lot of money. Then the Chief asked Dupin, "what could he do?", Dupin said: Search his rooms again. And he asked the description of the letter to Monsieur G. The Chief read a description of the letter to them.

The Chief visited them again about a month later. He said: "We searched his rooms again, but found nothing."
Then Dupin asked: "How much money would you get if you find the letter?".
Monsieur G. said that would receive a lot, and he would give him a check for half of that amount if he helps him to find the letter.
Dupin said: "Write me a check. When you sign it, I will give you the letter."
He signed it, and then gave it to Dupin. Dupin looked at the check carefully, and put it in his pocket. He took out a letter, and gave it to the Chief.

How did Dupin can <del>to</del> get the letter?

So one morning he put on a pair of dark glasses and went to the Minister's rooms. He was there. (With the glasses, he was able to look around the room while he talked to the Minister. And as excuse, he told that he had to wear dark glasses because of his weak eyes.)

Then he noticed a small letter rack. The letter looked old, dirty, and unimportant. It was addressed to the Minister in a woman's handwriting. He knew almost immediately that it was the stolen letter. He said goodbye to the Minister, and left. But he carefully forgot his hat.

The next morning, he returned for his hat. The minister and he began to continue their conversation from day before. Suddenly, they heard a sound outside like a gunshot, and then screams and shouts.

The Minister ran to the window. He opened it, and looked out. He stepped quickly and quietly to the letter rack, took out the letter, and put it in his pocket. In its place, he put one that looked similar. Then he went to the window.
In the street, there was a man with a gun. Woman and children were scared, but there was no real danger, because the man was working for him.

We chose a robot that helps clean the windows of tall buildings. Professionals in this area run the risk of falling due to damaged safety devices. There is also the issue of dizziness due to being at great heights. Robots could replace these professionals in cleaning the outside of these windows. We thought of a robot similar to those that clean floors, where it attaches itself to the glass and walks all over the area to clean it. The psychological and social impact for this profession would be positive, as professionals would no longer be pressured to take risks.
