My anchor text is a collection of personal experiences of people who have been diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health issues.
- Because my question is personal and cannot be answered merely through research, this book helps with my research. It takes the experiences and knowledge of those who actually encounter these things on a daily basis.
- This text helps with my research because it shows what people have done to get the support they need.
- My research aims to demonstrate the seriousness and complexity of the issue of mental health. For a specific group of people, it is a very different experience, and I want to draw attention to that and develop ways to help these groups of people get the care they require.

"Schools are the biggest single influence on a child’s mental health after their family. Schools can either enhance or undermine a child’s mental health and it is essential they know how to help."
"Young people in this age group largely don’t know where to get help for emotional problems, and feel stigma strongly. Many favour informal sources of support such as friends and family."
This source is an important part of my research because it shows how mental health issues will affect a person in diffrent stages of their life. Moreover, it shows that schools have an influential effect of boosting or ruining a person's mental well-being. Unfortunately, is stigma around seeking support for mental health among adolescents, making it challenging for many individuals in this age group to access the help they need.

This video goes more in depth of Austic individuals and how they struggle with mental health. It talks about the important factors of their life that might influence their health, such as school, friends, and family.
I like this video specifaclly because it ha the personal stories of autistic individuals and their takes on the supports that are given to them. One of them made a very good point and said that "all of the programs that I have been referred to have been designed for non- Autstic people and involve things like group therapy and meditation, both of which are distressing to me." This just goes to show that many people with autism can't find reliabble to support systems to go with their mental health.
This video also helped me understand that many of the biological factors also contribute to a autistic individuals mental health. Such as sensory diffrences, mental health, and genetics.
^ I think information is important to show that if so many biological factors contribute to autism then that also applies to other disorders like ADHD, LDS, and etc. If people continue to stay undiagnosed then the chances of ruining their mental health and them not getting the support they need is increased.

"A mental health diagnosis works in the same way as a physical health diagnosis. It is a label for your particular group of symptoms that describes what you are going through"

"Being labelled with a mental health diagnosis might impact how others interact with you. Rather than being the lazy teenager who doesn’t get out of bed, your relatives might have more understanding if you are given a diagnosis of depression."
^^ A diagnosis leads to a better understanding of the persons symptoms not only to their peers but themselves. It gives them an understanding of what is happening, and can help seek out help to improve their condition.

"Furthermore, having a diagnosis, a name for what is happening can mean that communication between various healthcare professionals, and the individual concerned, is smoother, more efficient and that the correct help is received. "

" First and foremost is the stigma that is still attached to receiving a mental health diagnosis. "
^^ hard to open up for help and also some people still might try to discriminate
"Therefore, having a mental health diagnosis may impact employment, housing options, relationships and so on."

"Another issue with being labelled as having a mental health disorder is that you can become attached to the label. The label can become an identity"
^^ you may start to identify yourself solely based on your mental health condition and use it as a justification for the challenges you face in your surroundings. however, this can be problematic as it leads to a pattern of making excuses instead of seeking the necessary support and assistance.
