With the increased use of communication technology, cyberbullying has become increasingly common, especially among teenagers.

• Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school-aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose. Bullying can occur in-person or through technology.
 • Bullying has serious and lasting negative effects on the mental health and overall well-being of youth involved in bullying in any way including: those who bully others, youth who are bullied, as well as those youth who both bully others and are bullied by others, sometimes referred to as bully-victims.
• Even youth who have observed but not participated in bullying behavior report significantly more feelings of helplessness and less sense of connectedness and support from responsible adults (parents/schools) than youth who are have not witnessed bullying behavior.
• Negative outcomes of bullying (for youth who bully others, youth who are bullied, and youth who both are bullied and bully others) may include: depression, anxiety, involvement in interpersonal violence or sexual violence, substance abuse, poor social functioning, and poor school performance, including lower grade point averages, standardized test scores, and poor attendance.
 • Youth who report frequently bullying others and youth who report being frequently bullied are at increased risk for suicide-related behavior.
• Youth who report both bullying others and being bullied (bully-victims) have the highest risk for suiciderelated behavior of any groups that report involvement in bullying.

What We Know about Bullying and Suicide Together
• We know that bullying behavior and suicide related behavior are closely related. This means youth who report any involvement with bullying behavior are more likely to report high levels of suicide-related behavior than youth who do not report any involvement with bullying behavior. • We know enough about the relationship between bullying and suicide-related behavior to make evidence-based recommendations to improve prevention efforts.

What We DON’T Know about Bullying and Suicide
• We don’t know if bullying directly causes suicide-related behavior. We know that most youth who are involved in bullying do NOT engage in suicide-related behavior. It is correct to say that involvement in bullying, along with other risk factors, increases the chance that a young person will engage in suiciderelated behaviors.
                                                                                   

What We Know About Cyberbullying           
Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites. Examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.

Why is Cyberbullying different?
Cyberbullying can happen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and reach a kid even when he or sheis alone. It can happen any time of the day or night. Cyberbullying messages and images can be posted anonymously and distributed quickly to a very wide audience. It can be difficult and sometimes impossible to trace the source. Deleting inappropriate or harassing messages, texts, and pictures is extremely difficult after they have been posted or sent.

I also think that this problem need to be stopped, we have already had too many dead, too many suicide. Many people are descriminated for the color of their skin or religion even if hey are fat or they are thin. they call them selves loser, fool. Kids are afraid to go to school Bullies don't understand the sorrow that the victims feel.

She was beautiful, absolutely beautiful; the only thing people could find to pick on her was her weight."Jackie says her sister changed her phone number and reported the bullying to police, but was told they couldn't help her."They couldn't do anything because [the suspects] used an app and it wasn't traceable and they couldn't do something until something happened, like they fight," Jackie said.

14-years-old Justine never imagined that she become a victim of cyber bullying. She began to receive threatening email messages from a mysterious cyber bully. The threatening messages continued to arrive and ranged from merely rude to downright terrifying. When the messages escalated into extreme threats such as, “I’m going to rape you,” Justine’s parents decided to take the issue to the police. The police were quickly able to trace the messages back to Justine’s classmate who also happened to be her best friend at the time. The courts required the cyber bully to attend counselling sessions and to write Justine a formal letter of apology. Although Justine’s family felt that this punishment was too lenient, they were glad that their actions resulted in a positive outcome.
