         <title>Student was in full shut down for about 2.5 months. The student was not in my class for that amount of time. When the student was in my class before he was very loud and attention seeking, at times disrespectful. The student has been back in my class for about a month and has been doing GREAT. He is quiet, listens to directions the first time, works well with others, lets me be in charge, so on and so forth. I am going to call Mom and let her know just how wonderful he has been and how proud of him I am.</title>

I have a student who has had ISS two or three different times for disrespect and threatening behavior towards me.&nbsp;Recently, he has been much more respectful and has been able to interact with me in a non-threatening manner. I plan on calling home to let mom know.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For this challenge I want to acknowledge the improvement of one of my 7th grade trumpet players and how much better his behavior and playing abilities have gotten in the last month or so. After a few weeks into the semester, I pulled him aside and emphasized the importance of leading by example, and how other students really look up to him. Since then, he has been a rock star in class and hasn’t had very many instances where I have had to redirect him.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Previous interaction was due to student behavior that prompted an office referral and ultimately resulted with the student in ISS. Since that time the student has shown positive changes in attitude, behavior and academic performance. I would like to have those observations and positive interactions to be a positive call home to bring the circle around.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Often times this isn’t a huge issue, as we are normally playing our instruments during class. However, at the beginning of class when students are talking amongst themselves and warming up, I have to clap my hands to get everyone’s attention. I’m going to try simply raising my hand or showing a ‘cut off’ gesture to indicate that it is time to quiet down and begin class.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The band directors in our district (5 of us) are regularly collaborating, sharing ideas, aligning curriculum, and communicating regarding scheduling. We are fortunate to be in a situation where we can brainstorm ideas with one another on a daily basis, and talk through what it is we want to work on. One thing that would be great is for us to check out what the other middle school is doing. So perhaps I could go to North Middle School to check out what their brass classes are up to and chat with the other director to compare strengths and weaknesses of both routines.</div>]]></description>
