The student was not in my class for that amount of time. When the student was in my class before he was very loud and attention seeking, at times disrespectful. The student has been back in my class for about a month and has been doing GREAT. He is quiet, listens to directions the first time, works well with others, lets me be in charge, so on and so forth. After a few weeks into the semester, I pulled him aside and emphasized the importance of leading by example, and how other students really look up to him. However, at the beginning of class when students are talking amongst themselves and warming up, I have to clap my hands to get everyone’s attention. We are fortunate to be in a situation where we can brainstorm ideas with one another on a daily basis, and talk through what it is we want to work on. One thing that would be great is for us to check out what the other middle school is doing.
