Quote:

"Never shall I forget those moments which murdered my God and my soul and turned my dreams to dust. Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God Himself. Never."

I found this quote to be extremely powerful because it reflects how Eliezer's faith in god is threatened because of the events that he witnessed. This quote shows just how much his life is impacted by the cruelty that he has experienced. However, he mentions that he will never forget even if condemned "to live as long as god himself." Which means he still believes in the existence of a god.

Song- "You Found Me" by The Fray

To me this song relates to "Night" because in the song the singer questions god on where he was in his time of need. In the book, Eliezer loses faith in there being a god.

"The Pursuit of Happyness" relates to the father-son connection and the struggle to overcome a difficult situation. In the movie, the fathers main motivation is his son. He does everything in his power to give his son a good life.

I believe that this piece of art work relates to the book because it portrays a father and a son alone on a dirt road. To me this art work portrays the abandonment that Eliezer feels towards god.

One historical event that relates to "Night" is the Irish potato famine. In 1845, most crops in Ireland failed. The British government raised prices on food making it very expensive. Thousands died from starvation and disease. This relates to the starvation and disease that those in German concentration camps endured because of the German government.

Piece of writing that relates:

In "Night" Eliezer struggles between his belief in a god or no god at all. He cannot decide whether there is even any goodness left in the world. He believes that if god existed he would not let something like this happen. In "The diary of a Young Girl" Anne Frank who also lived during the holocaust wrote "In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." She kept her faith in god and the goodness of others.
