It's Sunday. I'm writing to you while everyone are closing at home. Houses can be jails nowadays.
Coronavirus disease, that emerges in China, will changes the world and people's relationship for ever.

Social distance is very hard for people in general, but for the Spanish people it is incomprehensible. We live outside long time because the weather is hardly ever sunny. Moreover, we are extrovert and affectionate people and love touching each other. A big huge and kisses are our normal greeting.

The article, by Harry Stevens, in The Washington Post talks about what we can do in order to reduce the number of infect people for coronavirus and how to avoid the spread of the virus. Forced quarantines are difficult to carry out. Health officials recommend to avoid public spaces such as shows, libraries, schools, etc. to stay at home and to keep distance from others.
Covid-19 is dangerous and can kill. Unfortunately, the elderly, chronic sick people as well sanitary staff are the target.

Life is the time between the birth and the death. A personal and unrepeatable time. Everyone decides what to do with it.

Spaniard say: "time is gold" but I not agree with this sentence. In my opinion "time is not gold, is life". Each person have to decide how want to live, how want to waste their time.

I reckon a good life is synonym that succes. And what does succes is?
In my opinion succes is to have the opportunity to learn things, work in the job I dream, to travel a lot, to have good relationships with family and friends, to feel love and respect, play with my cat, sunbathe at beach, pick up mushrooms in the forest, walk next to the sea, make ikebana. To sum up have time to do what I love!

Nowadays is difficult to be free and decide what you want. Society is a perverse system that place each person in an exact position; run away is complicated. There are rules, laws, etc. It is almost impossible to get the freedom.

This morning I went shopping some food. After I was been waiting for one hour in the queue, the shop was empty. Lately (since on Saturday, March 14th., the date when started the confinement) is difficult to find a simple can of beans.
Covid-19 suddenly gave us a piece of advice: our fragility as human beings. At the same time it brings to light our worst defect; shortage of products shows us how selfish we are.
Maybe the planet has decided that is time to turn back, at the beginning.
Our society has been dominated of individualisme, the monetary power, the lack of family time dedication and discrimination. We didn't respect the nature, we polluted water, air, etc.
Currently we are closed at home and we have a lot of time to reflect, to be with ourselves and ours families. Money can't buy all things and coronavirus don't discrimine; it can affect everyone without to have in account our race or our bank savings account.
It is time to accept that death isn't the opposite of life; it is part of her.
It is time to remember that time flies, that life is short and health is priceless.

NOTE: Photo before the coronavirus appeared.

Today is the twelve day in quarantine. I'm a little bit disconcerted with some news I read about people who didn't respect the government official alarm. I can't understand why people take an unnecessary risk.

During this days I tried to organise myself in order to have a timetable. These is difficult because I do all things at home and outside. Jordi fell down in the street and has a sprain in his right feet. He needs crutchs to walk.

I have been thinking what people need in this special time of confinement.
First at all it is important not to watch too much tv. about Covid-19. We need take care about our mental health.

My daily routine:
In the morning, after breakfast, I do housework. Until now I couldn't do some things (to clean tiles, for exemple). I confese that I am a little obsessive recently.
I try taking a few exercise; I play with Gordo in the courtyard or I do stretches.
I alternate job an small breaks. I profite to talk with friends or family on mobile phone. Yesterday I did my first video call.
In the afternoon I organise my stuff (notes and other papers) and study English.

Doing a pending task list is useful. This help not to allow one's attention to wander.

Putting in order a quiet space favours concentration. Taking advantage of this opportunity for cleaning and organizing work space.

Healthy food is also a good point.

Last but not least to heard music help us to have an optimum state of mind.

Yesterday I saw a short film produced by the BBC.
1 - I found this adjectives:
- great
- feisty
- pretty
- clever
- sensual
- sexy
- pitchy
- thinner
- finer
- feminin
- curvy
-innocent
-delicate
- virgin

2 - They are looking for a character for a film, a leading lady. The character is a doctor in a hospital, in south London.

3 - The attitude of selection staff is very sexist and racist.

4 - There are some stereotypes, like:
- All in life is reduced to sex
- Women have to perform as a desire object
- Women with strong personality don't be useful for playing this character in the film, a black woman neither.
- A man got the job without to do anything; it means that "men are better than women". They have all things without personal effort.
The video has a scene where the observer can see two posters hang up on the wall; they show a man (Tom, the candidate as a leading lady) in "Mary Ploppins returns" and Tom again, and another man, in "Lo-Lo-London".

5 - I have never been in this situation . In my opinion it is a sarcastic video. However, castings for advertising are difficult; sometimes selection staff not explain exactly the personality traits they are looking for and that is complicated for working actors/actresses.

28/03 I'm realising that I didn't answer the last question. I will to do it!.
Women in today society are very strong. It is not easy to be a woman because of the discrimination that exists despite the fact that society is considered egalitarian and tolerant.
In my opinion, women have the same values as men and can do everything they want. Sometimes we forget that in life we complemented, not competed. It is necessary to share the roles between both sexs.

Since the quarantine started I have been thinking about how different countries governments have been faced
this wordlwide problem.
To be honest I don't trush in politicians and I'm fed up to heard his speeches. I didn't understand anything said by Mr. Salvador Illa and Mr. Pedro Sánchez. At the same time Donald Trump is saying that coronavirus is not a big deal; when summer arrives the pandemic is going to exterminate. Boris Johnson remains in silence and Jair Bolsonaro thinks that Covid-19 is only a little flu ...

I'm not a doctor, I'm not a scientist or biologist but I believe I have common sense, the less common of the senses. I'm wondering why our country is not sea, air and earth border closed when we have a real big trouble with the infected people. Yesterday we had 56.000 infected people and 649 death people.

Meanwhile the nature recover its space. Covid-19 brings evidents environmental effects: clearer water, cleaner air, the birds can be heard in the cities. Maybe we should think how they feel when we put them in jails. Maybe we should slow down our rhythm, resing ourselves with less in order to obtein more.

Normally I can't stand accoustic noise. Today I recognize the restlessness of silence. In the middle of this inmense mess I realize that it's spring and my first lily has flowered.

The confinement isn't a new situation in my life. Recently I lived it. The neighmare started the last day of November 2017. The 14th. December I spoke with my surgeon. On 29th. December I was in the operating theatre. I hadn't time to have a previus psychological preparation.
I remained in Sant Pablo hospital for fifteen days. I came back home the 12th. January 2018. The first thing I did was to buy a stool; I couldn't have a shower on foot. The physical and psychic recovery has been slow.
When I was in the verge of getting the top roles appeared the illness. That totally knocked me.
I passed a year and half in a little confinement. Only I went out for buying food or to see doctors and psycologists and I carried on with my English classes in EOI.
Past October I started to do a few new things, like an aware moviment workshop and a dance workshop.
I used to be an active person, a totally multitasking woman, but since 16th. December 2019 I'm a total disabled person.
When I was in the hospital a very close friend gave me a present, a notebook for writing my experience. Unfortunately, during 27 months my creativity has been blocked. I have been suffering a lot because I lost my essence as a person.
I'm an optimistic and strong person. I always think than after a dark night a new day starts and the sun smiles again.

Note: My last cinema work was
"Incierta gloria" ( 2017 ), directed by Agustí Villaronga. A last play about Civil Spanish War.
Marcel Borrás played as a main actor.

The sadness imbues worlwide.

The news said last night than Covid-19 has infected more than 737.000 people in 192 countries. United States leads the number of infected people around the world. The most part of deaths took place in Italy, Spain and China.

Yesterday Spanish government extended the state of emergency until at least 12th. April and now only basic services are allow. It's a good decision; a little bit late in my opinion. The motto "Spain is different" is true. The politicians act late and bad. They think more about businesses than people. The privatisation of health services in Madrid and the cutbacks in Catalonia predicted our actual situation.
There is a Spanish saying which defines perfectly this state: "de aquellos polvos vienen estos lodos" or in other words (this time in English) "a stitch in time saves nine".

Barcelona is normally a crowded city but now people covered for boxes, blankets, mattress or tents stand out in the odd empty. The naked pavements and closed entrance halls shops where they sheltered to sleep in the middle of this sanitary emergency emphasise the isolation around onethousand homeless people.
Several day centers and social dining rooms for poor people have closed or reduce their timetable during the quarantine.

For the most part of infected people coronavirus causes minor or moderate symptoms like fever or dry cough. However, old people or people with previous health problems can death or suffer serious complications like pneumonia.

Authority people try to leave out of the streets the most quantity possible of homeless people, avoiding heap them together in a shelter with comunal rooms where the risk to contagion they would be still biggest. IFEMA, the big exhibition center in Madrid, has become in an improvised shelter with 150 beds. In Barcelona an old school has restructured to provide shelter 56 people and authorities promise to have more beds soon.

Everyone who sleep out in the open is agreeing: ask for money or food has non sense now, because there is no one to give to them anything.

Note: Empty beds and people without beds.
Opinion essay about Spain spread of coronavirus - 1/04

The answer to spread of coronavirus is different in each country. It looks like United States and United Kingdom follow the Spaniards's methods.

Covid-19 emerged in Wuhan (China), and travelling via Iran and Italy. The response of this virus was fast and decisive in some countries like Japan or South Korea, also in Taiwan or in Shanghai (China city). In Europe maybe the best response was made by Germany.

On Thursday 26 March Spain had taking the top position of daily dead of this pandemic.

The article named "How did Spain get its coronavirus response so wrong?", by Giles Tremlett, explains the causes about Spain is having so bad response to this pandemic.
The autor said that Spaniards didn't think the virus could spread so rapidly. First at all, Spain don't have land borders with Italy but one sport event took place in Bergamo, on 19 February. After this event Valencia football players, fans and sports journalist were the first ill people.

Secondly, Tremlett point out the weather in Spain. In late February and early March the temperatures were above 20C and the inhabitants of Madrid took advantage of the sun in the open air. Moreover, just a week before the country was closed down had celebrated The International Women's Day and others sports and political events.

The Spanish government reacted late, creating uncertainty. Spain didn't have any essential equipment as a protective clothes for sanitary staff and enough masks, for exemple. Spanish government tried buy tests to China but them were in bad condition.
It is were not enough, old people's homes didn't take care of the elderly and the army found some people lying dead in their beds.

As a result of this wrong management Spain will go into economical recession, with its consequences: austerity, job losses and salary cuts.

To sum up, in every crisis there are people who win and others who lose. What a pity that always lose the same: workers people!. Now Spain is fighting against the virus. All the people are in confinement since 14th March. In the future Spanish people will decide what to do with this incompetent government.

Nowadays it's very strange to meet a person who doesn't have a mobile phone. Everyone has one mobile phone at least. People communica everyday more easily and also the equipments have new functions which make our life nicer.

The history of mobile phones goes back to the beginning of Second Word War but the first civil system of cellular phones was developed at the end of 40s in the United States. As of XXI century the mobile phones have adquired a lot of functionality which goes beyond the limit of making calls, translating or sending text messages. They have merged with different devices such PDA (personal digital assistant), photo camera, electronic appointment book, alarm clock, mathematical calculator, GPS Navegation System, or multimedia replicator to do multitude of actions connected in a small portable device which all people use in developed countries. This evolution of mobile phones is known as smart mobile.

In my opinion mobile phones are useful tools which make communication between people easier but people don't use it in an intelligent way. A lot of people put themselves at risk when are answering a call while driving, children have mobile phones and they use them in the classroom, young people are talking nonsense during all day and their parents pay high bills, etc. Moreover, as of today , are unaware the negative results of electric waves generated by mobile phones and their bad effects in health people.

I think now people really don't know some each others. The more technology in ours lives the less face to face communication; this is the bad side of the new lifestyle. In addition mobile phones make people less free (your boss, one client, a cellular phone salesperson, etc. can call you on Friday morning or Saturday afternoon, ... ).
In conclusion mobile phones, as other new technologies, need to be use cautiously.

Each person forms part a whole: a family, a country, part of the world.
Each action have consequences; there is a law cause-effect.
Since the pandemic has started some people has been a positive attitude and try to do things in order to help others. Wearing masks and gloves is to think about everyone. The solidarity is now the key.

Spaniards in general try to be supportive with their compatriots. There are people who is sewing lab coats with plastic bags, others are doing masks, a car factory now is an improvised space where to do respirators, etc. At the same time governments have canceled the most part the earth, air and sea trips to achieve cut down the pandemic and avoid the contagion. I saw also examples of lack of solidarity between european countries. France has cut the delivery of sanitary equipment to Austria and Switzerland, for exemple.

I believe that the fast spread of Covid-19 has been the globalization result. Besides, in the worst moments people act without think anything. The self-interest is on the top position. It's the jungle law.

On the other hand, the most important country until now: The United States is going on without interruption with their local flights. American citizens are spreading the virus inside their country. Moreover, they are having an alarming rise of unemployment rate. Now USA is the center of pandemic and this country doesn't have a public sanitary system. The most developed armament country has the most underdeveloped health system in the world. Another illogical thing.

This "war" is against a virus and, for the moment, nobody has a eficient weapon.

In the pandemic course one thing is clear each country think in theirself. Don't exist one together vision. I have this impression especially with the European Union. We are living in the richest part of the world. Here we have water, soap, food, masks, medecines as well sanitary services. I'm scared thinking about the increase of infected people in countries like Brazil, India and African continent.

In Brazil there are very simple houses, made with wooden, plastic, cardboard, etc. The population is extremely poor.
India have more than thousand third hundred millions of people and they live pile as sardines into cans ... There are a lot of the people who live on the streets. The most part of the population is poor and only have NGO to help them. In African continent, except in South Africa cities, happens the same.

The relief aid is arriving late at the Western society. I'm not pessimistic but unfortunately the third-world aid won't a priority for the first world.

Twenty-five days locked up.
This morning I went to shopping at supermarket. I thought that next Friday will be Easter and all food shops will be closed. A lot of people had the same idea as I. The queue was very long. In this circumstances I profite to think.
Today I did the exercise of thinking about the power of communication. This is a subject I like a lot because my art work always was based and it going to base, in the future, on the communication and their opposite: lack of communication.

I thought about the prime minister of United Kingdom, Mr. Boris Johnson. He said than Covid-19 was a little flu and two days ago he was admited in Saint Thomas hospital; yesterday he was took to the intensive care unit (ICU). On the other hand, Jair Bolsonaro is suffering a big rejection in the face of rising of infected people in Brazil.
The European Union is not supportive neither cooperative.

Spain government has had an important lack of communication with the citizens and is going on with this attitude. Today is not still clare if it is necessary to wear mask or not. Our government bought China testers twice. The first time they had only thirty percent of reliability; the second time the sixty percent. Maybe next time ...
Meanwhile sanitary aid not arrive to sanitary staffs because there are bureaucratic problems and hundreds of the people die every day.

Informing properly is govern a country. Perhaps they are not ready for this!.

Pros and Cons essay - 9/04

This morning I heard on the radio than the price of flour and leavening have go up four times since the beginning of confinement. Also that the most sell products by pharmacys are thermometers, alcohol gels and pregnancy tests. It is very interesting to know how our habits are changing. Everyone have time to make his own bread and cakes, all the people take care of their health and some people want to be parents ... or not.

The 7 April was Melissa's birthday. She is one of my bestfriends. Melissa lives in Oakland, a city next to San Francisco. I sent to her an email. I knew that this would be her worst birthday. Her answer confirm my thought. She works at home (teleworking) but her contract is going to expire the first of May.

After read the article by Martin D Gardner: " Teleworking: The Pros and Cons of Working From Home" I think teleworking has some advantages for employees, for exemple save money in gas or to have a more flexible schedule and the posibility to obtein internet connection anywhere. However, this kind of work has also drawbacks like don't have acces to all of the equipment at the central office and don't have personal contact with co-workers. Moreover, work at home involves to be aware of having a great level of self-discipline and a good balance between private life and job.

From company point of vue, teleworking requires some initials start-up costs (all equipment needed for remote acces, like laptops, mobile phones, etc.) although is a good inversion because reduces the need for office space, decreases employees distractions (conversations about the weekend, the kids, the sports, etc.), increases the productivity and the employee's morale. Finally, teleworking reduces the number of sick people coming into the office. This can prevent the spread of illnesses.

To sum up, teleworking is a successful business for companies but is a bad option for the employees. They need to have space for working at home, normally they work more hours than in the office and some people take care at the same time their children; that can be crazy in some cases. Maybe it is a great chance for people who live alone or for some kind of jobs such a translators or designers, for instance, or for some people who work only twice a week at home and go to the office three times a week. The middle ground could be the solution.

Yesterday was raining all day. Fortunately today is a sunny day!. To be at home is becoming more hard. I am better if I see the sun.

I grew with my grandparents. They were my mother's parents. I have a lot of memories of them.
In my opinion, after parents grandparents are the most important people in life.

The relationship between grandparents-grandchildren is perfect because grandparents have time to enjoy with the kids and the children have all time in the world. Time is slow when you are a child ...

Currently a lot of grandparents take care of their grandchildren. Since the confinament started the situation is very hard for grandparents and kids. They miss each others; they need each others. Furthermore, a lot of grandparents help (not only with time, also with money) their sons or daughters. They are difficult times for many families.

I can't understand why some old people have had suffer such a bad manners from their families or caregivers. Lately the elderly have been practically ignored in old's people homes.

Old people need our care and our respect. They are like "big babys", full of love and affection. Maybe they don't have a good memory or an easy moviment but they are wises and patients.
If we don't pass away some day we will be oldest. Our soul will be the same although our physical aspect will be other.

Note: After the alarm state due to Covid-19 Catalonian governement is going to do something for improving health service, education and the elderly attention.

Fragility is the capacity to shatter oneself or break oneself. The fragility is full of beauty.
The planet, our residence, is full of fragility. There are fragile animals, fragile plants, fragile people.

A good example of fragility could be a butterflye or some flowers such as the opium poppy. There are also some fragile materials, like glass or porcelain. The diamond is the most hard material which exist in the nature, but it is extremely fragile.

Though also there are things which seem fragiles but they aren't. For instance, the reeds. When the wind flogs them they move right to left, even too much ... but they remain in place. They can bend but not break. That is a good lesson for fragile people!.

Note: Nowadays, we are aware of our fragility. An invisible being is treating us. All people stay at home, the isolation rise ... until
when?.

It is middle of April. Yesterday I read than Spain and Italy are the two European countries than more respect the lockdown, than the human race need more than one vaccine to faces the pandemic and than the infected people for coronavirus is Spain has increased the last 24 hours, the first work day for non essential jobs ...

On the other hand, this morning I recived a text missatge on my mobile phone. Theoretically today should I received my headphones. Now it is 20:05. It is late. They won't come.

My subject today is fragility again. I like very much Land Art. This is a trend of contemporary art. The artists create works in the nature and use materials such as sticks, stones, ice, etc. In this mix between landscape architecture and sculpture, the landscape and the art work are closely connected. On this kind of art the photography, the recordings of the process and the finished work are very importants.

Note: Andy Goldsworthy is a British sculptor, renowned in his field, that creates temporary landscape art installations out of sticks, leaves, stones, and anything and everything else that he finds outside. His work is absolutely fragile.

I heard some bad news on the radio. I'm going to write my sumarize at the end ... Besides, I received a Melissa email. Our friend Alfonso passed away the 14th April. I met him the year 2000, in an art exhibition. This time wasn't coronavirus effect; he had kidneys problems. Rest in peace my friend!.

Today I discovered an amazing poetess named Elizabeth Bishop. She was a "rara avis" on the contemporary poetry because she only wrote just a bit more than one hundred poems. She is considered one of American poetess more relevant of the XX century. I like this poem especially. Enjoy it!.

ONE ART
The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent to be
lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent. The art
of losing isn't hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother's watch. And look! my last,
or next-to-last, of three loved houses went. The
art of losing isn't hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent
I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.

Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident
the art of losing's not too hard to master though it may
look like (Write it!) like disaster.

Note: Meanwhile, in Catalonia from one out to every three old people in old people's homes have coronavirus. Is that negligence or lack of resources?.
Experts don't know is a Covid-19 recovered person remains immune. Moreover, 1.300.000 Spanish people have lost their job.
The culture and tourism sectors will take more time to get recover. This recuperation is will expected around the end of the year 2020.

There are a few theories about how Covid-19 emerged. I think than it isn't matter. All countries in the world need focusing his attention on people health.

The European Union has showed her lack of together view. In the end, Italy has been the only country which has accepted China help. United States and Latin America deal with the virus in an independent way. However, "L'Afrique c'est chic" ...
The African are aware than they don't have sanitarian resources, they are modest and poor people. Some African countries have decided close their borders and they have accepted China help. For example Ghana, located in the Atlantic coast, closed his borders with only a infected person. It was an intelligent decision.

Spain despite the fact that is the country with more victimes continue risking more than should. I believe than it is a cultural deficiency. Spaniards consider bullfighting as an art. In bullfighting people clap to the bullfighter, who put in risk his/her life. The bull, is not important; it is a show part. The bullfighter endanger his/her life, the bull get involved and finish dead.

I don't clap every day, at 20:00 o'clock. Why I should did it?.
Doctors, before the Covid-19 sanitary crisis, had put up with the rough tratment practised by the government. They have days off because the state don't pay extra hours; they have been converted on health civil servents and the GP's only prescribe medication made of a concrete laboratories ...

Note: The doctors do their work. We should clap the victims.

The embarrasment to see how are acting Spanish government faceing up to the sanitary crisis and sadness to see how citizens are answering. It is no a new thing under the sun. It is more from the same ... Here nobody claim, nobody complaint, no one call a strike. We live too much good. Nobody stands up unless somebody takes off our sofa ...
But this time is worst; this time a lot of people is dying in a country which is supposed has one of the best public health service around the world.

The political, economical and financial interest get the first position on this macabre race. While the majority of people are confined in the seventeen autonomies and the two autonomus cities: Ceuta and Melilla, the Spanish government has bought 10'5 millions of masks ( Spanish population is nearly 47 millions people ). Pamuk, who was born in Istanbul and has always lived in the city, describes daily things about his life, with his family, in the 1950s. In the book there are also some photos in white and black.

I like this book because I like travelling and take photos. In my opinion things can be made in different ways, but the style of communication, the empathy with the receivers, the ingenuity and the creativity for faceing any problem are definitive on the result. The attitude is irreplaceable.

All countries leading by women, such as Germany, Taiwan, New Zealand, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Denmark have answering better against the virus.

The day before yesterday we did an opinion essay, named "The most/least trusted professions" and shared it with August in the Writing folder, on Drive.

Yesterday I thought about some hidden professions, such as scientist or inventor. Since coronavirus pandemic has started a lot of worldwide scientists are working every day in order to discover a vaccine or a few medecines to treat the illness. Frequently they work in laboratories, earning scarce money, but they have a huge vocation. Their job is slow, it includes a lot of animals proofs and human trials. It's a hidden job but not less important; it is extremely important!.

On the other hand, the inventors are also "raras avis". They normally have a scientific brain and never get tired; they try achieveing their dreams. Thanks them the human beings life has gone progressing along the history.

Note: It is not the job, it is the person who works in it who make his/her work reliable.

This morning I did a small trip. I went to my doctor appointment. I drove my car. I saw some people on the streets, too little traffic.

I know that with the new government rules I will go to the church before than the cinema and that I will move from Blanes to Puigcerdà, for example, but not from Blanes to Malgrat de Mar (there is eight kilometres distance between this towns). Moreover, if all things go well, will arrive a "new normality" at the start of July.
To be continued ...

The heat waves are every time more frequents, lengthy and hardest.

Spain Mediterranean area is very vulnerable to the climate change, just like other Mediterranean countries, the Central American zone, the Amazon, the australian south-east, the big coral barrier and the tibetan plain. Without forget cities next to deltes, rivers or seas, like New Orleans, Dacca, Tokyo, Bombay, London, Amsterdam and Alexandria.

The climate change don't know borders and although affects more the poor people, the women and the children, it is a global and cross-wise phenomenon that will be arriving all the people.

Air pollution, water shortage and rain scarcity are also consequences of the climate change. The pollution remains in the atmosphere and allergies and the breathing problems, such as asthma, make worse.

Here and in Australia, the climate change make difficult our well-being in basic things like health, food and economy. Next to the climate change the loss of biodiversity is another dramatical consequence of the present environmental crisis. If governments don't take urgents mesures, a million animals and plants species could dissapear in a few decades.

This involve brave political decisions. Meanwhile, we can do small gestures, habits changes. There are some so simply as drink tap water, use public transport or change our plastic toothbrush for one of bamboo. In addition, we need to think fewer in short-term, a less plane use (it is the most pollution transport), consum food grown close and of the season, bet on renewable energies like sun energie, use heating home moderately, avoid air conditioning and do a water and electrical appliances rational use. Other positive things could be to recycle more paper, plastic, oil and glass, buy less clothes or eat less meat, etc.

Planting trees is a good idea to help to reduce the global warming effects.

The links between climate change and the coronavirus have also been highlighted by many observers and experts in the field.

Spain coronavirus lockdown is one of the most strict in Europe together with Italy. These countries are similar regarding social behavior.

The answer to coronavirus has been different on other European countries. The opposition parties, on the majority of European countries, have been helping the governments to face this sanitary crisis. However, in Spain the opposition parties: Partido Popular (PP), Vox, Catalan Republican Left party, etc. are using Covid-19 as a throwing weapon. Specially People's party (PP) which are useing as well the victims.

In my opinion, Spanish government had a slow reaction facing the pandemic. Mr. Pedro Sánchez and his group are useing lack of communication and continously are disorienting population with contradictory news. Moreover, they did not bought on time the sanitary equipments and their distribution had disastrous. If that were not enough, after 56 days of confinement sanitary staff can not test to discover infected people ...
The article "Spain's path out of Covid lockdown complicated by polarised politics", by Sam Jones in "The Guardian" of date Tue 5 May 2020, reflect the non supportive attitude of all political parties. Each political party works only having as a goal their own political interest.

The big Spain confinement (more strict and long) brings severe economical and financial consequences. It would be intelligent join efforts for the well common.

To sum up, I am apolitical. I do not believe on politicians because when people have power abuse on it and work only to earn money without thinking about citizens necessities. It is my opinion. Nevertheless, in the Covid-19 crisis I prefer a long lockdown because it is better rest at home than rest in peace!

Note: On right ad in a stop bus,
in London.

On the pyramid basis are our physiological necessities. One time we have covered this necessities, we look for satisfying our immediately upper necessities.

Life depends of water and water is a resource in a bad danger. In form of ice, vapour or liquid, water guarantees the biosphere and humanity survival.
There're two kinds of aquatic environments: salty water zones and fresh water areas.

The biggest areas of salty water are the oceans. They cover around 71% earth surface and they are very important in order to preserve all earth life. The oceans have an important job on the hidrological cycle (rains are formed from evaporated oceanic water) and the regulation of terrestrial climate. They're the life environment for 250.000 species of plants and marine animals. Unfortunately, they also are human wastes dumping sites (polluted water).

The coast zone is only the 10% of oceans environment, but contents 90% of all marine species. They are estuaries, coast wetlands and swamps.
The coast wetlands are covered lands of salty water all year or during a part of the year. They are especially important because protect the coast lands of floods and damages and erosions caused by storms. Examples: bay and lagoons.
The swamps help to protect the litoral of the erosion. They're the life environment of 2000 fish, birds and plants species.

Open seas content only 10% of all marine species. He has three areas: "eufótica" zone, "bática" zone and "abisal" zone.
"Eufótica" zone is the ocean upper part, where are the productors species of oxigen.
"Bática" zone is bad illuminated and the "abisal" zone is very dark. In this area the water is too cold and the levels of dissolved oxigen are very low. There are biggest levels nutrients which manteing many species who life in open sea.
In the ocean bottom there are a lot of species than descompose on nutrients the organic materia of dead ocean organisms.

Today news:
This morning I heard on the radio a programme which told about emotional management. A doctor told audience about attempts to committe suicide and oneself injuries have raised 70%.
Confinement acts as a big anxiety productor because there is uncertainty about work and a lot of people are in a grief process.
On the other hand, 50% of sanitary staff (8 from 10) have post-traumatic stress. They are exhausted and burned due to over the top work.
Youngers and teenagers also are suffering the pandemic consequences and lawyers will have a lot of work soon because will have many divorces solicitations.

Fresh water areas are waters with a concentration of dissolved salts lower to 1%. There are two kinds of fresh water: fresh water fixed bodys, like lakes, ponds and interior wetlands and fresh water mobiles bodys, such as rivers and streams.

Only a 1% of terrestrial surface is coverted of fresh water. However, about the 41% of all known fish species live in fresh water.

Lakes and ponds are bigs and naturals bodys of fixed water. They are feeded principally by rain water and the melts snow. The first life area in fresh water lakes is the litoral zone, close to the edge. In this area we can find floating plants, surface plants, submerged plants and phytoplankton. Also there are big quantities of decomposers and some animal species such as frogs, fish and insects.
Under the litoral zone is the "límnica" area. This area contents phyto- and zooplancton, and several fish species. Under this zone we have the deep life zone; it is the deep and dark water which can't to be reached by the penetrating sun light. In this area we only can find some fish. Finally, in the bottom there is another zone, named "béntica", inhabited by descomposers and insect larvas.

On the other hand, rivers and streams are catchment rain water. This water flows towards the see.

The wish the human race to live close to the coast brings aquatic life deterioration. The people dryed wetlands and other coast areas, with the object to get land for the human develop.
The majority of water reserves now are polluted ( pesticides, heavy metals), because we have been pouring sewages in them for long time. We didn't payed attention about damaging in water quality.

I love cliches. I love their immediacy and their absolute lack of nuances. Specially European people have cliches about Spanish people; sometimes this cliches only are lack of information. I noticed this living outside or shareing home with foreign people.

Spain is the country of bulls.True
So far as I know in Europe there are bullfights in Spain and in the south of France. Bullfights, running bulls and smell of wine go hand in hand.

Going to bars, watch futbol on tv and eat some tapas. True.
In general Spaniards like futbol and like watch it on bars crowded of people who yell and celebrate the good play. Normally people are gathered around a table full of beers and tapas ("bravas", ham, etc.).

Spaniards as well as Italian people or Greek people (Mediterranean people) speak loud. You can realize this on a public transport, in a bar and specially in a futbol match (a Barça-Madrid, for example). That is true.

Spain has an awful laboral timetable; a lot of people work four houres on morning and four houres on the afternoon. This is a nonsense for other European countries. In addition we are late, we are unpunctual; (we have
"schedule flexibility"). True.

We have also fame as lazy workers and fraudster people; it must be for a reason!.

On the other hand, Spain haven't on "la paella" the national dish, not all Spaniards dance "flamenco" and neither all Spaniards drink "sangria".
Spain has a very rich cultural diversity but we have selled a sun, beach, parties and souvenirs "made in Spain" tourism.

We don't speake bad other languages, in general, but we have embarrassment to do make a fool of yourselves. Spaniards are prouds.

European people think than Spain is a big beach and also than Spaniards love drink and parties. This things in my opinion are big cliches. Other nationalities drink more than we and love all kind of parties where in the end get drunks.

Today news:
Tomorrow Barcelona starts the first phase of de-escalation and Tarragona, Tierras del Ebro, Valle de Arán and Pirineos start the second phase. That means than if you live in Badalona, for example, you can go to Barcelona for working but no to visit your mother or another relative. Besides, you can gathering ten people at home but no the same number of people in a bar's terrasse.
I continue without understand anything ...

I like almost all kind of animals living free. I consider ethology as a beautiful science which brings closer life wild animals to the human being. I would like travel across Africa and discover her geography, fauna and flora. In fact there are some continents, a lot of countries and concrete natural places than I would like to visit ...

I don't like very much birds: animals with beak, feathers and two legs (except owls, parakeets, penguins and parrots). I can't stand the pigeons!. Snakes, spiders, insects and reptiles in general dislike me.

I like pets like dogs, cats, rabbits or hamsters. I like also fireflies because they have light their own.
I think there are several groups of animals: elegant animals ( like horses, panthers, tigers, lions, etc. ), curious animals (such as camaleons, kangaroos, giraffes, octopus, etc. ) , amusing animals ( like squirrels, panda bears, koalas, chimpanzees, monkeys, beavers, etc. ), beautiful animals ( butterflies, bees; I love them in spite of to be insects), dolphins
(they are also intelligents), sea stars, sea horses, etc., and weird animals (anteaters and duck-billed platypus, for exemple).

Only a few animals live on groups all their life. They are named social animals. Social animals are those than interact constantly with others of their same specie, I mean they don't only be together in mating time.
They are elephants, lions, ants, penguins and dolphins.
Elephants, lions and dolphins are mammal; dolphins are marine mammals (cetaceans).
Ants are insects as bees and wasps
Penguins are birds. They don't need humans to live; they grow free, learnig hunt. However, domesticated animals are with the people, have an owner which take care of them.

When a wild animal is bring up in captivity, after will be very difficult than can survive in their natural habitat; at the same time never can behave as an domestic animal because their essence is wild.

Domestic animals to the cities are dogs, cats, canaries, fish or hamsters.
Farm domestic animals are horses, sheeps or cows.

The main wild animals are lions, wolfs, elephants, sharks, crocodiles, giraffes, gorillas and leopards.

There is too animals in danger of extinction, for example the mountain gorilla, polar bear, Iberian lynx, Sumatra tiger, white rhinoceros, from snows leopard, panda bear, common chimpanzee, borneo orangutan, red tuna, etc.

I was born in Barcelona (Gràcia), in 1961. In that time Franco was the Head of State. My parents had to baptize me as Nieves (María de las Nieves).
When I was 14 years old Franco passed away. Two years later I could use my name: Neus, of course! and I put it in my ID card

My mother tongue is Catalan, at school Spanish and French. I learned French during EGB, BUP and COU. I speak French.

I have been in London twice. At that time I didn't know any word on English language. First time I went to London I visited the National Gallery, Tate Gallery and Victorian&Albert museum. I finished very angry with myself because I couldn't understand any English explanation about art works. That frustrated me. I decided: "I need to learn English".

Second time I went to visit my best friend Helena and roamed by the city in order to take a lot of photos and visit markets (Portobello, for example), Covent Garden, parks, etc. My necessity of learning English grew ...

The circumstances in my life didn't demanded to know English, but on the year 2008 I started a labour cooperation with a Swedish company. The owners of this company said me: "it is not necessari you talk Swedish; the official language in this company is English". On October 2008 I started to learn English in a languages academy. Some years after I did my level exam to enter at EOI.

In my opinion is not necessary understand a language to travel or visit countries or cities. My necessity is related to with my interest of meet people and understand the culture. Reading a book or watch a film in original version is the best way to capture all nuances and riches about one language.
In this sense, a key aspect should to be not translate movies to the Spanish language. Spain has a bad habit doing this!. However, nowadays we have the best conditions to improve our knowledges.

Moreover, English language is almost a new "esperanto"; wherever you go there is always someone who speaks English ...
Technology is our better ally!. Go ahead!.

Imagination plays an important role on the perception than we have of reality and on the memories production, dreams and thoughts. Intelligence depends of she, just like creativity. We need to promote imagination to advance towards a healthier and wise society.

Contemporary science is discovering that imagination is a fundamental cognitive function, whichs plays a key role in all forms of mental life. Thanks to the imagination we can think beyond the confines of our immediate situation, generating vivid mental contents with which we can revalue the past or evoke a possible future.
Most ideas are born as images. In fact, etymologically, the Greek word "idea" means "vision". In this sense, to devise is to imagine. But imagination doesn't just come from images, it can also be triggered by a verbal description, when reading a novel or a poem, for example.

Without imagination there would be no language. We learn to read through imagination, which turns ink marks on paper into evocations of missing things. The transforming power of the imagination is so great that the simple reading of a written text can really touch us deeply.

Imagination is an essential ingredient of thought and intelligence. Machines can calculate wonderfully, but they have no true intelligence, among other things because they lack imagination. Imagination is life.

Not every imaginative act is creative in the deep sense, but all creativity needs imagination.
Today we live thirsty for imagination, saturated with data, figures and barcodes.
Television, video games, and sports have filled a void: our ability to imagine.

Many outdated structures around us are in decline due to their lack of imagination. The power of the imagination is essential today to renew education, politics and daily life.

A rainbow is a optic and meteorological phenomenon than consist on the appearance on the sky of an arc (sometimes two or more) with multicolored lights. It is origined by the descomposition of sun light in the visible specter, which is produced by refraction, when the sun rays go throuht little drops water which contents in the terrestrial atmosphere. It is an arc compound of concentric arcs of colours, without solution of continuity between them, with the red colour on the external part and the violet colour towards the interior.

Racism determines the lives of migrant and racialized people. There are a lot of examples like stop police by racial profile, colour skin rejection or origen on media, the language racisme, Foreigner Internalment Centers, negation of acces to public and private spaces, limitation to get a dwelling, schoolar segregation, ghetification in the neighbourhoods, policial brutality, ...

George Floyd's tragic death, the 25th. May in Powderhorn (Mineápolis), have generated protests around all world against policial violence and the sistematic racisme on United States. Currently US is liveing the more serious protests since ones that happened on 1968 after the assassination of the leader for the civile rights Martin Luther King Jr. There has been street protests in more than 75 cities and in more than 40 of that have been established curfews. A lot of protests finished with riots, confrontations, lootings and arrests. The situation went to National Guard, a military force than is reserved for emergencies.

George Floyd's brutal murder was the cause of change in a context where black communities are constantly subdues to an excessive policial surveillance. Black people live with fear because they feel vulnerable on the presence of who is supposed should protect them.
Part of the answer to this situation has gone organizing througt Black Lives Matter, which started on 2013. Every time more people understand what is happening, than it is a systemic problem nor an isolated event.

In United States there are deep inequalities which affect daily life of afroamericans; such as difference on the incomes (normaly an afroamerican person earns only half than a white person), difference on the quality of education which they receive, etc.

The street protests arrive on a moment when United States has been strongly hit to the coronavirus pandemic. Covid-19 has produced more than 100.000 deaths and has left without job 40 million of workers. The majority of death people were afroamericans because they normally work as sanitaris, bus drivers, seller people in shops or post offices. Moreover, their health are worst than the white people. They suffer frequently chronic diseases, like diabetis or obesity.

In my opinion the pandemic has made wors the problems derivated to the structural racism because those problems affects how the people can face the disease.
On the other hand, we need add the inappropriate answer by the government. Donald Trump don't help. His answer has been provoke violence against the protests.

Christo, one of the most well-known representative of land art, passed away 31th May 2020. He was 84 years old.

Christo was born in Bulgaria (the 13th June, 1935), he escape fom the communist system on 1957 and never come back his country. First he went to Prague and after he escaped to Vienna, for move to Geneva.

On the year 1958 Christo went to Paris and met Jeanne-Claude Denat of Guillebon, who not only was his wife but also his associater on the creation of art works. Both went beyond of the peinture, the sculpture and the architecture with the Land Art concept.
Some of their colossal works were "Wrapped Coast in Australia" (1968-69), "Valley Curtain in Colorado" (1970-72), "Running Fencein in California" (1972-76), "Surunded Islands in Miami" (1980-83), "The Pont Neuf Wrapped in Paris" (1975-85), "The Umbrellas in Japan and California" (1984-91), "Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin" (1972-95), "The Gates in New York's Central Park" (1979-2005), "The Floating Piers at Italy's Lake Iseo" (2014-16) and "The London Mastaba in the lake Serpentine" - London (2016-18).

I like very much their philosophy as artist. Two years ago, in a visit to Miami, said: "art isn't a "profession", neither a work "from nine to five", it is something which have to do with stuff like "alcoholism", with something "without "which than you can't live" without which you can't live. It has to see with "to be", added.

I'm strongly agree with this statement.

Photo: Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin

Pros and Cons essay - 9/04

This morning I heard on the radio than the price of flour and leavening have go up four times since the beginning of confinament.

After read the article by Martin D Gardner:
"Teleworking: The Pros and Cons of working from Home" I think Teleworking has some advantages for employees; for exemple save Money in gas or to have a more flexible Schedule and the posibility to obtein internet connection anywhere. However, this kind of work has also drawbacks like don't have acces to all of the equipment at the central office and don't have personal contact with co-workers. Moreover, work at home involves to be aware of having a great level of self-discipline and a good balance between private life and job.
From company point of vue, teleworking requires some initials start-up costs (all equipment needed for remote acces, like laptops, mobile phones, etc.) although is a good inversion because reduces the need of office space, decreases employees distractions (conversations about the weekend, the kids, the sports, etc.), increases the productivity and the employee's morale.
Finally, teleworking reduces the number of sick people coming into the office. This can prevent the spread of illnesses.

To sum up, teleworking is a successful business for companyies but is a bad option for the employees. They need to have space for working at home, normally they work more hours than in the office and some people take care at the same time their children; that can be crazy in some cases. Maybe it is a great chance for people who live alone or for some kind of jobs, such a translàtors or designers, for instance, or for some people who work only twice a week at home and go to the office three times a week. The middle ground could be the solution.
