The Chester and District Junior Football League is an invitational league that is at the heart of grassroots football in our region, offering children of all abilities the chance to play, develop, and enjoy the beautiful game. Covering Chester and surrounding areas, we bring together local clubs in a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and growth both on and off the pitch.

My name is Carla, and I’m proud to introduce myself as the new Welfare Officer for the Chester and District Junior Football League.

I’m here to ensure that every child, young person, and adult involved in our league feels safe, supported, and heard. Welfare is about more than just policies, it’s about creating a positive environment where football can be enjoyed by all, and where respect, inclusion, and wellbeing come first.

Those of you that are from U12’s-U16’s this section will give you an insight as to how age groups will be run for the upcoming season.

Fixture Secretary’s for this section are as follows:

Each fixture secretary have their own what’s app group. After each game, you must send in your results to the what’s app group along with your team sheet. If you fail to comply with this, you will be issued a fine as per league rules.

Every Wednesday evening, you will be allocated a referee which will be viewable on the Matchday app and the Full Time system.

The referee must be contacted by the allocated home team by Thursday evening to ensure that the referee is fully aware of where and what time the game is.

In failure in doing this, you will be issued a fine and you will no longer be allocated a referee for that weekends game.

All kick off times are 2pm. If you require an alternative kick off time, this must be communicated with your fixture secretary by the Tuesday evening prior to the following weekends game. This is to ensure that a referee can be suitably organised to attend your game when the allocations go out on a Wednesday evening.

Kick off times can’t be changed after a Tuesday evening.

There will be an updated referee contact list that can be obtained from Ian Dymond whom is the referee fixture secretary.

This part gives you an insight as to how the U’9’s-U11’s is organised.

U9’s

• U9’s have a WhatsApp group and Jane prefers the scores to be privately sent to her and not disclosed on the WhatsApp group.

  
  

• All teams are to ref their own games as you will not be allocated a ref at this age.

• Ideally a 10am kick off on a Saturday morning would be best but Jane is flexible on this as long as both sides agree and the game MUST be played on a Saturday.

U10’s

• U10’s have a WhatsApp group but Nic prefers the scores to be messages privately to him rather than disclosed on the group.

• The contact details for the other managers of the age group are on the link in the WhatsApp group description.

• All ⁠teams are to ref their own games as the lower age group do not get allocated referees.

  
  

• KO time is ideally at 10am but flexible as long as it’s Saturday morning and agreed with the opposing team.

📱 U11 Grassroots Football WhatsApp Group Rules

✅ Purpose of the Group

This group is for:

• Sharing match times and locations

• Confirming attendance or absences

• Team updates (weather cancellations, kit reminders, etc.)

• Sharing results

🚫 What to Avoid

• ❌ No gossip or negativity about players, coaches, or referees

• ❌ No off-topic conversations (keep chats relevant to football activities)

• ❌ No sharing of personal photos

• ❌ No forwarding of unrelated content (jokes, videos, political posts, business advertisement etc.)

🙌 Group Etiquette

• ✅ Keep messages short and to the point

• ✅ Respect everyone’s time – avoid spamming with non-urgent replies

• ✅ Use private messages for personal conversations or issues

• ✅ Be supportive and positive – we’re all here for the kids

⏰ Timing

• Please avoid messaging early in the morning or late at night unless urgent.

Think office hours 9am- 6pm

• Matchday or weather updates are welcome when relevant.

It is the coaches responsibility to check full time for all match day details.

Reminder these can change up to 6pm on a Wednesday.

Welcome to the Mini Soccer info section.

U7’s and U8’s teams, there will be 3 meetings via teams to determine the placement of teams.

There will be an initial meeting in August to determine the start of the season with a second meeting in November to restructure the divisions to ensure the teams are playing other teams at the right level.

A final meeting will be in February again to restructure the divisions.

In May we hold a Mini-Soccer Festival at Chester City FC where teams may participate in a tournament within their age group.

It’s a great place to hold the tournament in a football stadium where friends and family are welcome to celebrate the game we love.

It highlights that success in football isn’t solely defined by professional accolades but also by dedication, passion, and growth at every level. By shining a light on grassroots accomplishments with these fantastic weekends of celebration , we ensure that the foundational layers of the game remain strong, vibrant, and deeply valued.

You MUST contact your allocated referee by Thursday evening and you must notify Ian if a game has been called off for any reason to ensure that the referee that has been allocated to you, can be given another game.

In failure of the home team manager not contacting the referee by the Thursday evening, you will incur a fine as per League rules.

An up to date contact list for referees can be requested from Ian Dymond.

25/26 season referee fee’s are £40. Please pay the referee BEFORE the game to ensure that they get their fee.

Abuse towards any referee WILL NOT be tolerated and you will be held accountable for any abuse from your side line also.
