Is it okay for him to raise the kids hope about a nice dorm room, and then sending them to live in a shack? Is it okay for Nero to make every child who misses (or is late to) his 6 hour nightly concert buy him a bag of candy, and eat meals with their hands tied to their back?
Patterns: The Baudelaires are constantly pushed around and kind of bullied, but Nero, Carmelita, and Coach Ghengis.
Multiple Perspectives: The main perspective of the story is of the Baudelaire children, but there are also the perspectives of the Quagmire kids. We see the Quagmires perspective when the Quagmires dress as the Baudelaires to fool Coach Ghengis, and when the children are making a plan for the Baudelaires to study for the upcoming tests. 
Rules: Some main rules in this book particularly. Some of the ridiculous school rules that are affective at Prufrock Prep, are that if a student misses one of their meal times, they will not receive any glass for their drink, for that day. They will have water poured on their trays. If a student goes into Neros office without an appointment, they will not receive any silverware at their meals for that day. If a student is late or absent to Neros daily 6 hour violin recital, they will have their hands tied around their back when eating, for that day. Another universal rule of the books, is that Count Olaf is always wherever the Baudelaires are, is some wacky disguise to try to capture them.
Changes Over Time:
The Baudelaires and the Quagmires become good friends over the course of the book. The Quagmire triplets have shown they are brave by helping the Baudelaire children escape count Olaf's "S.O.R.E" program by dressing up as the Baudelaires and running laps for them, so that the Baudelaires can stay up and study for their tests so that they will not get expelled, even when the Quagmires knew that they would be in danger, they were still brave. The Quagmires have shown that they are kind by talking to the Baudelaires and help them make a plan to defeat Count Olaf, even though they never succeed, the Quagmires still try to comfort the Baudelaires. Inference: What we can infer from this quote is that having friends in a sad or troubling time, makes the world feel more at ease, and that things aren’t as hard as they used to be.

This is shown many times throughout the book, as it is also Prufrock Prep's school motto.
Plot:
Exposition: The Baudelaire children get taken to Prufrock prep to attend school and stay there, as it is a boarding school.
Rising action: Coach Ghengis shows up to prufrock prep. He is really count Olaf in a disguise. He is at Prufrock because the Baudelaires are also there. The Baudelaires meet the Quagmire children who are their good friends and try to help the Baudelaires to escape.
Conflict: Count Olaf is trying to get the Baudelaires expelled because he has talked to the Vice Principal and they agreed that is the children must leave the school, Count Olaf will take them. 
Climax: The Quagmires dress up as the Baudelaires, and Count Olaf finds out. He kidnaps them, as they also have a fortune that he may be able to steal
Falling action: The Baudelaires study all night and pass their tests, but quickly find out about the Quagmires. Then, Coach Ghengis is revealed to be Count Olaf.
Ending: The Baudelaires reach Count Olafs car where the Quagmires are, but they are too late. The Quagmires are taken away in Count Olafs car, and the Baudelaires cannot do anything about it. They watch as their only friend are taken away.
