Go to kindergarten and do science experiments

1. Dancing Raisins

Concept: Buoyancy and gas bubbles
Materials:

Clear soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)

A clear glass

A few raisins

Instructions:

Pour the soda into the glass.

Drop in a few raisins.

Watch them sink and then "dance" back up as bubbles stick to them.

Why it works: Bubbles of carbon dioxide lift the raisins; when they pop, the raisins sink again.

2. Rainbow Walking Water

Concept: Capillary action and color mixing
Materials:

6 clear cups

Paper towels

Red, yellow, and blue food coloring

Water

Instructions:

Fill every other cup with water and add food coloring (Red - empty - Yellow - empty - Blue - empty).

Roll paper towels into strips and place them to connect the cups.

Watch the water "walk" to the empty cups and mix colors.

Why it works: Water travels up the towel through capillary action and mixes colors in the empty cups.

3. Magic Milk

Concept: Surface tension
Materials:

A shallow dish

Milk

Food coloring

Dish soap

Cotton swab

Instructions:

Pour milk into the dish.

Add drops of food coloring.

Dip a cotton swab in dish soap and touch the center of the milk.

Why it works: Soap breaks surface tension, causing the colors to swirl and move.

4. Volcano Eruption

Concept: Acid-base reaction
Materials:

Baking soda

Vinegar

Food coloring

Small container (or plastic volcano model)

Instructions:

Put baking soda in the container.

Add food coloring.

Pour in vinegar and watch it fizz and erupt.

Why it works: Vinegar (acid) reacts with baking soda (base) to produce carbon dioxide gas.

5.

Clothespin catapult:

It’s a simple device that uses potential energy from the clothespin when pressed down and when released its converts into kinetic energy that releases the crumpled paper inside it.

Materials needed:

Double-sided tape

Crumpled paper

Popsicle sticks

Clothespins ( wooden )

Bottle caps

Rubber bands

Coloured markers

How we will we explain it to little kids :

When you press down on the clothespin , the clothespin gets collects a lot of energy. Energy is basically what people or things use to move. Energy that is collected and not used to move is called potential energy. When you let go of the clothespin, the potential energy, which as we can recall, is energy that is not used to move , will be converted to kinetic energy which will allow the crumpled paper to fly! Kinetic energy is energy that is used to move or do anything. So, after all this, what happened is just that the clothespin had potential energy when we pressed down on it, then when we let go of the clothespin, the potential energy gets converted into kinetic energy, which will let the paper ball fly.
