My prompt: Can new knowledge change established views or beliefs? Question: Would it be better for me to use an example where there is a definitive answer e.g. new knowledge CAN/ CANNOT change established views or beliefs, or where the answer depends on some conditions e.g. situations where perfectly logical, cogent evidence is presented in contradiction to an established view that is equally well-justified (in cases like these whether this new knowledge can change one's belief depends on factors such as open-mindedness/ one’s status in a knowledge community and so forth)?

May I get some advice on whether these three dimensions explored are ok:

1. New knowledge can possibly change a (wrongly) established view if the method by which it is produced is more reliable. It also depends on the knower’s open mindedness i.e. the extent to which he/she is willing to acknowledge the wrongness of the original view.

2. New knowledge can change an established view when the knower provisionally accepts the original knowledge claim made, along with the possibility that said claim can be refuted with future evidence. This attitude allows for healthy development of knowledge, because the knower can ensure that he is not forming baseless beliefs.

3. New knowledge cannot change entrenched beliefs because they are unfalsifiable. The refusal to change an established view however strong the new knowledge or good the methodology that has produced it is, is often due to a strong personal connection between the established belief, personal identity and religious shared knowledge.
