Specifically, in the field of cloning, it was possible to clone a living being: the Dolly sheep. However, there is still research to be able to clone dead people. I am not sure that cloning should be used on human beings. Certainly if on one hand it's advantageous to clone human organs that can be used in the treatment of rare diseases, it's also true that it would lead to an increase in average life expectancy which is still a problem for our already overpopulated society.
Especially in recent years the theme of cloning is at the center of a big scientific discussions, science fiction films and novels, creating real opposition between the scientists for and not. Genetic engineers are already preparing to use animal organs instead of human ones.
The European Union has strictly forbidden the breeding of genetically modified animals due to the spread of diseases such as cow passing or dioxin among chickens. Altering the fragile balance of nature and specifically of living beings that inhabit our planet can lead to serious consequences.
