In this activity the children got the opportunity to meet Franklin the Turtle. The children were all very curious to start with. They weren't to sure what the creature was. However as time went on the children became more and more confident with Franklin and were willing to touch and play with him.

Learning outcomes that were addressed in this activity:
4.1.1- EYLF - express wonder and interest in their environment
4.1- EYLF- Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect.

In relation to "belonging, being and becoming" one of the key principles that stands out in this activity is "Ongoing learning and reflecting" in relations to the children's singing and dancing it is an ongoing interest, we are building on the learning when I brought in Franklin.
In relation to Practices it was an Intentional teaching practise because it linked so something the children were already learning about.

The children were learning how to respond to exciting experiences with respect. They were also learning to wait their turn when holding or patting Franklin.
The children all showed a sense of empathy and gentleness as they playing with the turtle. For some of the children this experience tested their resilience and confidence. Trying this for the first time, showed them they are capable learners and it's worth having a try.

In relation to Quinn and her bath time at home, she learnt that having a bath wasn't so bad after all. It is amazing that something so small can have such an impact on a child. This is something i have learnt in this experience, it is important to tell the parents how the child's day has been because the parents can use something like that in their home time.

Where to from here? After having Franklin in the nursery room we thought it would be a good lead on to have the children watch and listen to different songs and videos about turtles and other sea animals. We got all the children to sit on the mat and we put the headset on each child, (This is a different way for them to experience sound) we played them songs about sea animals and showed them videos of turtles and other sea creatures
