But on January 14, Mao Zedong declared that he would be willing to negotiate. In the end the Communist winning was still an important factor because to this day the Chinese government is still communist.
Source

Zedong called out to the Youth of China to change the society of the nation and to "purge" it from it's terrible misgivings and fortunes. This was an important part of the Chinese rebuilding themselves because they were teaching their youth their beliefs and trying to get them indoctrinated in the ways of communism.
Source

In the Center of Beijing, China is Tiananmen Square, where many protests and student led demonstrations have occurred. But the greatest protest was during May-June of 1989. Almost a million Chinese students and young adults came together to protest for Democracy in China. They called for the Chinese Communist to resign and let democracy be the way of the Chinese government but the government wouldn't here of it. And on June 4 1989 Chinese police and troops went through the square killing and arresting an estimated thousands of young Chinese people. In response the United States put sanctions on China. This was an important event because if the student protesters had succeeded and enough people had listened to them then they could have turned the way the Chinese government operates around, and maybe they could have become a democratic nation.
Source
