 FDR talks about unemployment and how people are running out of jobs to have, and how it is a major problem of human existence. 

 "Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age."-Obama 
Obama brings up how it is still a reoccurring problem as of today, today so many years later it is still the same problem. It is the job of the people not just him to try to make a difference in how many people have jobs.  And how people are getting treated well in these jobs and with the hope that they have good welfare for themselves.

FDR is referring to how our ancestors intended for us to be and how we were supposed to follow the government the way that they did.He was saying that our government had become corrupted over time and up to the time before he became president. 


"Our founding fathers faced with perils that we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations." -Obama 
Founding fathers and ancestors and the generations that have come by are like the same thing they all have the same thing in common. Its about the people who raised us who, brought us into this world and hoped it would be good for us as it once was for them. Obama brings up how basically it has taken hard work for the people of the past to get us here to the future.

Obama is saying that even under crisis the country remains strong and we can keep fighting.

He took this literally and took it as a symbol of foreshadowing his presidency how he planned to lead the united states of america, how he planned to lead us through thick and thin, how he planned to try his hardest to push us through and make things easier for us in the future by telling us the truth and telling g us that we could believe in hum for telling the truth.

"Our challenges may be new, the instruments with which we meet them may be new, but those values upon which our success depends, honesty and hard work, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism -- these things are old."- Obama 
Obama may not have said FDR's exact words but he did plan to lead an honest presidency as well as an honest life, as well as making his way into history to show himself well, as to explain what his plan for the future were and how he planned to lead as well.
