The influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on global economies, corporations, politics, and society is enormous.
Quarantines, lockdowns and high uncertainty have resulted in a considerable decline in demand for products and services, with global value chains carrying the financial blow on to main supplier countries.
COVID-19 is especially problematic for low-income countries, including numerous Commonwealth small countries.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a damaging effect on resource demand in Commonweath countries, resulting in a drop in commodity prices, especially for oil. Other important goods, such as farm products and metals, were mostly unaffected.
International organisations have analysed the impact of Coronavirus on developing countries, focusing in particular on how trade in the commodity sectors has been affected (OECD,2020).
According to Derek S. Taddei, the strained supply lines due to Covid paired with an increase in demand we are seeing now would be one of the main reasons for inflation at the moment.
