However, Ivy's mom isn't the best parent. Ivy sees an ad for a film competition and decides to enter. Nobody thinks she'll be able to make a movie except for her teacher, Ms. Mackenzie. After Ivy's mom ends up getting arrested, Ivy goes to a foster home where she finishes her movie. The movie doesn't place in the competition, but Ivy is still glad she made it. "Her cheeks flamed."- This is a hyperbole because Ivy's cheeks didn't actually flame. This takes place after Ivy sees a boy she met and is scared to talk to him.

"Ivy froze."- This is also a hyperbole because even though Ivy was very surprised, she didn't actually freeze.
