Selma to Montgomery voting rights march. The movie portrayed the nonviolent fight of the African American activists. I understood why they chose not to use violence, as it would result in even more, and most likely worst. yet, the lack of patience of the American was frightening. The movie's great writing and production had made me look at the movie from the eyes of the activists. This was one of the reasons I was stunned by the cruel behavior of the Americans.
In my opinion, one of the strongest scenes in the movie, besides the march, was the scene of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. The sharp change from light-headed childhood to cruel racist murder played a suitable part in making the viewer empathize with the activist. I think the way the scene was portrayed was brilliant, the use of music and placement at the very beginning had the right effect on the viewer.}

The acting was excellent, the subject of the movie is very inportant and it was pretty historicly accurate. Some of the scenes were very violant and shocking, much more then I thought they would be. The movie shed some more light on the violance and hateret twords black people in America, and lesss about the segregation. I assume the plot is close enough to the original historic events for it to be educating while entertaining. The plot was interesting and revealed personal points that informative texts often lack but make the whole story a lot more captivating. I do think some of the scenes were overly dramatic, like when Corrie asks Dr. King if he has mistresses.

Like I said, I think it's a good movie. It brings up many important points in history and about human rights, leaves an impression and features a good plot and actors. I would definitely recommend it.

I think the film made me understand more about how outrageous was the life of the African Americans back then, How few people had the power to decide who’s worthy enough for having basic human rights, and who is not. I think that this film should be seen by others to raise the awareness of the hard fight Martin Luther King and his supporters did in 1965. There was a lot of hate against black people but somehow they weren't afraid to revolt. They did demonstration and risk their life in order to get the right to vote. In my opinion it requiters a lot of courage to risk your life for your rights.

I think the movie was brilliant. David Oyelowo did a fantastic job as Martin Luther King, so as the other members of the cast. I think the movie is very important to watch. Before I watched the movie, I knew about the story of Martin Luther King and the suffering of black americans at the time, but after watching the movie I realized how much I didn't know.
The movie taught alot me about the background of Martin, his relationship issues with his wife, about Selma, the life of black civilians in america and more... The movie had some very brutal scenes wich really added up to the overall experience. In conclusion, in my opinion "Selma" is a very good and strong movie and I can't recommend it enough.

The part in the movie when pictures from the real event of the final march were shown really moved me and made me feel emotional. The actors did a great job and they really resembled the people they acted.
The story really resembled the real event and now i understand it and support it. While watching the movie I loved the courage of Martin Luther King and his crew, moving towards their goal even through tough times. I also liked the part where people from all around America of all races came to join Martin Luther King on his journey.
Though, I would also like to see what happened after what was shown in the movie, maybe Martin Luther King's death or what happened in other areas with unequal rights.
Overall I enjoyed the movie and I think that it was a good choice to show it and I look forward to see more movies like this in English class.

In my opinion, Selma is very well made, and I’m happy that they weren’t afraid to show the good, bad, and the ugly.
Showing movies like these in class definitely enriches, not only the historic understanding, but also people’s, political and world views. As teenagers, we soon have to make many decisions of our own, and I’d rather them be more solid and intelligent than not.

Another thing is that through the movie there were different perspectives of the situation (for example the perspective of the president againt the perspective of Dr. King) and by that I have learend more details and I could understand the situation better.

It was very powerful in it's message and very important for anyone to see and learn from.
It is very easy to mess up a movie about a historical event, especially one as socially important as this one, however I think the director, Ava DuVernay, did a very good job as depicting it correctly and showing all that needed to be shown. I think her portrail of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is really authentic and it feels real, which is the best compliment a historical film director could hope for.
I liked that the film wasn't a complete birth-to-death biopic, instead focusing on the actual movement and not just on MLK. However, I do think the film lacked a but of focus, I know the director wanted to show everything that was happening in that time but showing the many stories of multiple people such as President Johnson, Coretta Scott King, Governor George Wallce and more seems to take away from the main plot and slow down the pacing of the film too much. I do agree that seeing other stories is important, but I think the film was trying to cover too much. The film ends up showing multiple stories of many people and as a result no story is truly satisfying and no story ends up developing completely.

The movie shows how basic rights, like the right to vote and the right to sit anywhere on a public bus, aren’t obvious and some people received such rights only after a long struggle. Today, we take these rights for granted. For me, it was hard to believe that these things happened so recently, only 60 years ago, and that there were people that still thought the situation should stay that way.

The film is also a very good example of a non-violent struggle even though the other side was violent. Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader, determined to keep the way of the struggle as he believed was right, even though there were times he and others were hurt in the process. The movie shows how, in the end, the struggle succeeded, even though later it cost him his life.

I found the movie Selma very inspiring.
I also think that this movie should be a part of the curriculum because everyone should watch this movie.
The movie changed my perspective about the ‘simplest’ things in life and see how my rights, that seem so obvious and basic things are so not obvious to others.
The way they fought just to vote ,or sit everywhere on the bus was so mind opening because it have worked so well that today it’s unbelievable that not so long ago these basic rights where very unusual. I was also inspiring by the way their fight was so not violent and how Martin made a huge difference with words and nonviolent actions which is a great achievement nowadays.

Watching Martin Luther king's battle for black voting rights in this movie has really made me understand what it was like being an African American in the 1960s and how frightening it was for these people, knowing they don't have the same rights as white people and being treated so differently.
I think Dr King's character couldn't have been portrayed better, he is one of the greatest activists in our history and a role model to all. Something that really inspired me while watching the film was seeing how charismatic, determined and passionate Dr. king was, he dedicated his life and did everything he could to fight for what he believed was right, which resulted in changing the lives of black people everywhere. Thanks to this movie, I learnt how actions such as the march from Selma to Montgomery have an impact on not only African Americans, but on our present.
