One of the first examples of foreshadowing is the repeated aspiration of the main character, Ruth Duncan, to become a doctor. Due to the time period (1914) and her gender, this is not a possibility. In chapter one she narrates a conversation with her father,"But I want to be a doctor" (18). Later she continues to try to become a doctor and may enroll at a women's medical college in London. Another example of foreshadowing is that Ruth's father keeps shutting down Ruth's hopes and interests. When a friend tells her father of the medical schools for women Dr. Duncan replies,"I've heard about those places...That's not real medicine. Besides, nursing school is expensive enough" (29). This foreshadows Ruth eventually applying to a medical school or at least planning to apply. The continued disagreements with her father also foreshadow her leaving home to pursue her own dreams.

ONE of the first examples of foreshadowing about is "percy jackson telling you before hand about being a half blood and going into camp page 1" the main charater is in a boarding school because of his anger issues and his outbursts and when he has another outburst he gets kicked out because of his half blood power so he has to go to camp where he get more and more stronger witch i think would eventually lead to him finding something the gods couldnt and then the gods all praising him but along the way of that happening he is almost killed and his friends help him survive.

One of the first examples of foreshadowing is the repeated factor of Neanderthal being compared to his brother, Or dad. In the story, it refrences how his brother, failed in many things in life. And lived an harsh one, Though this is what Neanderthal recalls because his brother died. And in the story it also refers that his dad is an alchoholic. And usually drank his problems away. Which on Page 212 it says. "It amazed me how much I hated my drunk dad, and how much he inspired me to drink all my problems away. Maybe, deep down I was just like him." Which could foreshadow him becoming more like his dad. Stuck in his problems and forced to drink it all away.

One example of foreshadowing is that the main destination of Percy's group is said to be very dangerous and I think that could lead to the place being a trap. Also Percy's dreams usually push the story forward with foreshadowing. Another example is in page 169 when one of the characters named Bianca kills a monster that is supposed to be unkillable so I think it could show that there is a way to beat the monsters that are following them. Foreshadowing happens a lot in this book but it usually leads to something thats two or one page later so i wouldn't count it as real foreshadowing. Something else that could be foreshadowing is that fact that Percy's sword (Riptide) has conections to another character in his group. In the end there are a lot of hints to events in this book but here are some of the ones that peaked my interest.

An example of foreshadowing of the main character, Cassius, in Becoming Muhammad Ali wants to become a boxer when he's older, is repeated when people and himself, say he will be a star one day. The text states, "School's not for me, Daddy. I'm gonna be a star, just don't know how I'm gonna shine yet." (115) The text also states, "My friend Cassius was still bound for greatness." (21) These quotes show that Cassius himself, and the people closest to him, knew he was special, and was bound for greatness. This relates to foreshadowing because it shows how people knew he would be great.

In the story "Confederacy of Dunces," the story follows a man named Ignatius. His simple existence causes chaos. In the beginning, he is waiting for his mother outside a bakery (he is in his mid-30s). He is outside when a police man stops him and starts questioning him. His response is to start chaos; he starts yelling obscenities, and it turns into a fight. The mother comes out, and they run away into a bar. where they stay for a few hours, where the mother gets drunk. This is simple, foreshadowing that the mother is drunk and needs to get home. What do you think will happen will the boy drive her home? No! She gets in front of the wheel and immediately crashes into a building, like within ten seconds of the trip, her car is wrecked, and a brick wall is more like a pile of bricks.

One example of for shadowing in the book "Hey Kiddo" takes place at the start of the book. The part of the book I am talking about is when Ja(Jarret)'s grandfather says on page 39 "Every thing is going to be fine Les." This quote is explaining how his mother does not have to worry about anything after Ja is first born. This is an example of foreshadowing, because as your read more of the book you find out the truth about his mother. On page 161 the text says "There is was-right there in the newspaper's count record, just a few pages away from the comics page. My mother's name, out family's name. Printed for all to see." This quote explains how his mother was not a good person, and not everything was gonna be ok. That is one of the example of foreshadowing in "Hey Kiddo."

One Prediction that I have for the book scythe is that the main character Rowan is going to try and be killed by a scythe. Scythes are people that are above the law and are ordered to kill people every week to make sure the worlds population stays the same. I think that Rowan will be a victim of this because in the story there are several times were him and his family disrespect and talk back to a scythe. This makes me think he might be killed because the scythes might retaliate in the future by gleaning/killing him. A quote that shows his disrespect towards the scythes is "Your gleaning out star quarterback i Hope you know that." Another quote is one page #23"Theres more to it isnt there." These quotes show foreshadowing of him being killed because he is talking back the the scythe and trying to squeeze information out of him.

Some of the subtle hints and clues early in my book that I have noticed that seemed as if they were trying to set up major events or revelations that occur later in the story is how Catarina, who goes by cat seems very stubborn and doesn't want to believe anything that has to do with ghosts. Which was very very shown thourghout the whole book, as if they were trying to set something up. I believe it was setting up that cat was going to get blown away or shocked by something that will make her opinion change. For example on page 34 Carlos says " The ghost tour doesn't start until three." Which after Cat replies on page 34 " Don't listen to this kid Maya, he just messing with us. There's NO SUCH THING as ghost" However shortly after these statements she sees ghosts in real life but still doesn't want to believe it. So that was one of the early hints I noticed that seemed to by setting something up.

In the book "Surprisingly Sarah" by the author Terri Libenson. There is many ways of foreshadowing shown throughout the book. One example is when Sarahs best friend, Ben is talking about homecoming. He states that he "really wants a date" and how he is "so excited" for hoco. Sarah was crushing on a boy so she had finally worked up the courage to ask this boy. Sarah is very fond of him and she thinks he is kind, and cute. However, this boy is also one of Ben's teammates and his friend. When Ben found out Sarah had asked him he got very upset, he even started to ignore Sarah and stoped trying to hang out with her. This shows foreshadowing from earlier because maybe Ben had wanted to go with Sarah, after all he was saying how much he was excited and he did get very upset afterwards when he found out. There was also many hints to this sanrio, as there were many pictures showing there facial expressions, texts, and sometimes it shows through Bens perspective as-well.

One example of foreshadowing in the book The Final Four, by, Paul Volponi the main character Malcom is having trouble with his grades. As he is the best player on the team and possibly in the league he isn't doing a good job in college. One of his teammates, MJ is trying to help Malcom because he realizes if he doesn't perform better in the classroom he will not be able to participate in March Madness to lead his team to the Final Four. Evidence that supports this is, "I don't like tutors. They're too stuck up, besides, D is still passing." "thats what I figured you'd say, Ill coach you up!" P 77 This shows how Malcom does not want to be tutored, and only wants to focus on basketball. This foreshadows how Malcom could possibly fail to keep his grades up and not be able to play in the tournament.

One example of possible foreshadowing could be when Maverick claims that his goal is to just get through high school and pass his classes, then focus on the more important stuff like making money. I think this could be a possible foreshadow or reference to the future of this book where Maverick has trouble with school or his grades, and it causes a problem for him. Maverick also has a lot of other struggles in his life too like his son being born, so he has a big responsibility caring for him. Before his first day Maverick visits his uncles, his uncle mentions to him on page 81 "focus on them grades, thats all you gotta do for me. You bet' nit get in any trouble either". This recurring reference to his academics makes it a important part of the story which could be referenced later on in the story, also what makes me think he might have trouble with his academics, Maverick states on page 81, "Ive had one goal-graduate and get up outta here...just gotta pass my classes then i can focus on the important stuff, like making money". From this statement it sounds like Maverick doesn't care as much about his education and only wants to pass and graduate, which could be a problem for him in the future if he doesnt try hard enough.

The first time she brings him up was, "I wasn't with FINNY on that August night, but my imagination has burned the scene in my mind so that it feels like a memory." (1) Every time something happens it reminds her of Finny. Now she says, "I'm in love with Finny." (179) She also says, "I've loved him my whole life, and somewhere along the way, that love didn't change but grew." (179) I think something will happen and she will end up with Finny and not her current boyfriend.

One example of foreshadowing is when President Snow, the leader of the 12 districts, goes to talk to Katniss about her causing an uprising in the Capitol. When Katniss is in the Hunger Games, Peeta and she were the last two left in the games and she told the leaders to let both of them win or else they would both eat poisonous berries. This caused backlash in the capitol and could cause an uprising. The president tells her that if she doesn't convince him on her victory tour that Peeta and she are in love, he would kill both of their family's. Another example of foreshadowing is when Katniss is in the mayors house, she sees a news alert on the TV that shows District 8 in chaos and many protests happening. The people in the crowd are wearing a mockingjay pin and singing her tune which could mean that she caused an uprising. "There are still banners waving with my face on them, and below them is a mob scene. The square is packed with people throwing bricks, buildings burning, and Peacekeepers killing at random." (Collins 88) In this quote, District 8 is protesting the Capitol and waving banners with her face on them. This could mean that she is the face of the uprising and will be in trouble.

One example of foreshadowing in my book Unravel Me, by Tahereh Mafi is the interactions between Adam and Juliette. There interactions between each other was repeated a lot. In the first book we learn that anybody that touches Juliette ends up dying or suffering a fatal consequence, but also, we learn that Adam can touch her for no reason. In the first book it continues to come up that they can touch each other, also, we see that Warner can touch Juliette also. This is important later in the second book. In the second book though, they dig deeper into why, Adam can touch Juliette. It takes them a while to find out but after some test with Juliette and Adam. We learn that Adam actually has a secret ability where anybody he touches he basically disables there powers, this is why Juliettes powers don't work on Adam. In the middle, we find out that Adam and Warner are actually siblings and Warner shares basically the same powers as Adam but instead of Disabling them, he can steal them and use them for himself. In the book it says "So you can take-you can just take other people's powers? I ask him. Apparently." (Pg 369) This shows Warner can touch Juliette like Adam without an injury. Overall, these interactions between Adam and Juliette were foreshadowing because they play an important role in the story of why Adam and Warner can touch Juliette.

One example of foreshadowing is the repeating of Jackie the main character needing control in her life. Jackie has gone through a lot in her life like when she lost her family due to a car accident that left her devastated and now she has to life with her mom's best friend's family. "I cant have a feeling of being out of control because I don't know what might happen." (129). This shows that she is worried of the consequences if they end up together. This refers to her emotional state and stress that she is in but whenever her and Cole are together everything goes away and she doesn't want the feeling of being out of control. Her and Cole's chemistry has recently improved every since she came back from New York and she happy about that but she doesn't like the way he makes her feel mentally.

One of the first examples of foreshadowing is in the beginning they discover about a dead teacher. "sorry your mom drove her car into a jewelry store while she was high on opioids and had to go to rehab for four months" (page 7)This foreshadows the rest of the story and how their childhood was for the rest of the story. This also shows characterization of their family and how their life style is. This can also be the reason why Ellery had to move

One of the examples of foreshadowing in "Girl from sea" was that was " I like to keep my life tuck in neat little boxes"pg8. This is foreshadowing because in the end of the book she has a lot of mental help problems. She has these problems because she is keeping everything in a tucking them into her boxes and not talking to any one. Her mental health got so bad that she started withdrawing from her friends. when they were asking to hang out with her, she kept saying that she was busy. these shows that there is foreshadowing in "Girl form sea"

In the book "Where The Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens an example of foreshadowing is when the main character Kya talks about her father she says "Pa's room was still empty, and he probably wouldn't be home for hours. Playing poker and drinking whiskey kept a man busy most of the night" (33) This foreshadows and signify the father eventually leaving her and his family for drinking and is absent from her life. The father drinks away his problems and when he is drinking and getting drunk he starts abusing Kya. So his presents isn't always needed or wanted but Kya still gets concerned and worried when he is missing. Kya is now forced to survive alone in the marsh as she was doing even when her dad was present but now she really has no option. Pa's absents was both good and bad for Kya as she saw it coming so it was no suprise but she never wants to be alone.

One of the first examples of foreshadowing occurs when the Scythe Faraday comes to Citra's home for dinner. After dinner, Scythe Faraday went to glean their neighbor, Bridget Chadwell, with one of the knife in the kitchen. After the Scythe gleaned the neighbor, he gave the knife back to Citra and said, "We are all accomplices. You must share responsibility." I think this shows that Cirra will become a Scythe.

One example of foreshadowing in "Room" was "Nothing makes Ma scared. Exapt Old Nick maybe. Mostly she call him just him, i didn't even know the name for him till i saw a cartoon about a guy that come in the night called Old Nick." (pg. 12). Nick is portrayed as an ominous character that the kid knows almost nothing about. It foreshadows that Ma is being kept against her will and kept in a room with her child. I think Nick may have kidnapped Ma and the Kid and that's why Ma is supposedly scared of Nick.
