         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Elections;</strong> elected from districts that are roughly of the same population that are determined by the census every 10 years. 50 NC senators which means 50 senatorial districts and 120 NC house members makins 120 senate districts. <strong><br>Qualifications; </strong>21 years old 1 year residency for house and 25 with 2 year residency residency with 1 year district residency. <strong><br>General assembly leadership; leader for NC house (120 members)</strong> is speaker of the house who presides and appoints.<strong> Leaders of NC Senate (50 members) </strong>are the Lt. Governor who only shows up when tie is needed to be broken and the Pro Tempore who appoints and resides. <strong><br>Legislative sessions;&nbsp; even number years-</strong>short session that are at least 6 weeks. <strong><br>odd years-</strong> long sessions for 6 months <br><strong>Special sessions</strong> can only be called by the governor or the speaker of the house and president of the senate. <strong><br>Key Legislation-</strong> In 2005 NC Education Lottery was created. 2006 first minimum wage bump in a long time.
