Adolescence is a critical stage for each of our lives. For some, this is the stage where they decide what kind of individual they want to be in the future. For some, this is when they discover who they really are and what are there ideals in life.

My adolescence stage is both a good and bad experience. It thought me many valuable lessons and gave some the worst situations/experiences in whole life, yet. It was bittersweet.

I've met some very great people who taught me a lot in life. These people are very important to me as they've help me grow as an individual who cares about his surroundings and values the people around him. It may not always be good but all the moments will be cherished as they've made me realize that even though life may be hard, it's easier when you have friends you can rely on.

This stage of my life made me become a person I never thought I would be. During my JHS days, I was a very lazy student, I do very well in exams but not so much when it comes to PTs. I barely exert the minimum effort needed and just wanted to have a pressure and stress free life. Now that i'm in SHS, I've realized that this kind of work ethic will not help me become an individual that will success in life and have a great impact to society in the near future. That is why I've learned to embrace the pressure and think of it as something that motivates me to strive and work harder.

Currently, my responsibility in our home is much bigger than it used to be. For the first in 17 years, both of my parents are working abroad. This leaves me with my two younger siblings, we only have a helper who has been with us for a long time now. However, as the eldest child in the family, I know that its my responsibility to guide and nurture my siblings to grow as God-fearing individuals and become a great contribution to society. It may be hard right now but I know that I can do a good job in doing so. There may be times when I may feel like giving up, but I know that this just a bump on the road. It is all part of God's plan for us.

Currently, I am confused on what career path I would take or what school I will attend in college. I'm still in the part of my life where I am not yet sure of what I want to be in the near future. I only have months left to decide and I still haven't chose what course would make me happy and is also practical as the eldest children. My father is a seaman for a long time now and he is really relying on me to continue his duty in providing for the family especially for the studies on my younger siblings. He kept mentioning that he is tired and he wants to stay home where he can come home and see us everyday. So, I think that really clouded my decisions knowing how much my father is expecting from me.

I know that life is hard, yet I still try to finds way to make easier. Adolescence can be very confusing but, that's the beauty of it. It brings out the worst and the best out of people. It helps us to know who really are and what we want to be. It is a stepping stone for our future lives. :))

-Tiu
