He was motivated to find what happened to his remaining  microbots and his inspiration influenced him to begin his journey. This allowed him to grow and change because of the though challenges he had faced
He had Baymax by his side the whole step of the way and Baymax was Hiro's main inspiration for this.

and he was angry that Tadashi died for no reason. He then takes that anger and creates an attack only mode chip for baymax to kill Callahan.

The six friends found a video, an astronaut named Abigail into space, and she died.
They attacked Kabuki man to find out who he is, it wasn't Krei, it was Professor Callaghan.
He didn't die from the explosion, he build the bots to have revenge on Krei.

When the bots rise up, they were chased by a guy with a Kabuki mask who is controlling the bots.
Hiro went to the cops to tell them what happened but they didn't believe him. He then discovers that the explosion wasn't an accident, the guy in the Kabuki mask is responsible for Tadashi's death.

He then figures out a way to break the bots apart. When he got sucked up by the portal with Baymax, he detected a sign of life, Abigail is still alive. His friends put back chip back into Baymax to stop him. Hiro’s friends say they don’t want to destroy Callahan, they just want to catch him but Hiro wants him dead.
