The film stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams as a young couple who fall in love in the 1940s.  Their story is narrated from the present day by an elderly man (portrayed by James Garner) telling the tale to a fellow nursing home resident (played by Gena Rowlands, who is Cassavetes's mother). 

'The notebook' was a romantic film. In the film, they loved each other so hardly. Finally, they were married but Allie had dementia. This film made us sad and sometimes brought me to tears. Also, It was reminded us of first love. The story of film is so lovely and romantic.

We can also talk about the chemistry between the two characters. This means that you can feel the passion between the two main actors.
