As I was heading out to discover a space for my parallaxis experience, I could not ignore this space which was outside my friend's house. An old cooking station with an antique gas stove.
I have never really looked into this space in detail but I thought of the different settings that took place in this area about 150 years ago, where people did not have the luxury of modern stove and imagined what I could do in this space with children if I had the chance to.

The sounds of the rain and the strong winds combined reminded me of heavy foot steps and using these sounds I would tell the children the children to imagine the big steps of Giant people who are coming to see the fairies and bring them food. It is a world of contrast to be able to see the small and delicate people (the fairies) and the big and tall (the Giants) living together peacefully)

This platform gives me the opportunity to build a class without walls as children would be able to explore, build, create sounds and reflect on a space that they have not seen before.

Creative Space - Habitats of Fairies
With this space, I can invite children to explore and think differently. We will talk about the little open doors to a different world, where fairies might be living.
In those little houses, we can explore their habitats such as the twigs on which there are leaves growing to be the beds where fairies sleep. The two compartments at the top are the place where fairies do magic and keep their magic potions in.

We can look the the burrows in between the bricks where the leaves have grown towards the fairies habitats. They use these as a means to get into their space and help them get into their fairy gardens which is next to their house.

This artefact was chosen to represent holes in the past. The way fire would come out through those holes in the stove and how we can use it to reflect different aspects of life where there are holes, for example a gateway to the past from the present or to the future? or is it a way of entering a secret world?
As Malaguzzi said: ''For us, the atelier had to become part of a complex design and, at the same time, an added space for searching, or better, for digging with one’s own hands and own mind, and for refining one’s own eyes, through the practice of the visual arts.'' (Edwards et al., 2012)
