Yes, Beowulf is a hero. In the story, the author describes Beowulf as "greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world." As seen in many other heroic tales, Beowulf is given the traditional attributes of the world's saving grace protagonist. Another example of Beowulf's true heroism is his will to let fate unravel as it will, as described in the quote, "Fate will unwind as it must." A hero always wants to win, but a true hero, like Beowulf, knows that there is a possibility he won't and has accepted his fate. To Beowulf, fate is not only the literal depiction of life taking its own course, but that God will always choose which path his life will take. His willingness to let this happen, whether he agrees or not, makes him a truly realistic hero.

Is Beowulf a hero? Explain your analysis using two quotes to support your answer.

Beowulf has conquered the "infamous killer." He has "sailed across the sea to Hrothgar's" (Part two) kingdom from Geats because he recognized that his "help was needed" (Part Two). He has come long and far to this kingdom although he was part of Higlac's he was still as loyal. He recognizes himself to be "stronger than anyone anywhere in this world" (Part two) and brave enough to go against "mankind's enemy." He continued his mission and went against Grendel in a gruesome battle. Beowulf, the "prince of the Geats, had killed Grendel, ended the grief, the sorrow; the suffering forced on Hrothgar's helpless people by a bloodthirsty fiend" (part three). Beowulf valiantly offers to help and has conquered death.

In our opinion, Beowulf is a hero. In the second excerpt, we are introduced to Beowulf as he travels to Hrothgar kingdom with an agenda to defeat Grendel. When Beowulf heard about Grendel he knew that he had to find a way to stop him, " and quickly commanded a boat fitted out...now when help was needed." Through this quote, we see who Beowulf is as a person. He is always eager to help others and to get rid of evil. We also see that Beowulf is very strong and has defeated people before. He has driven "Five great giants into chains..... from the earth." In this section of the excerpt, Beowulf explains his previous accomplishments that show that he has the capability to defeat Grendel. As any other hero should be Beowulf is determined to get rid of Grendel and does not fear away from the fact that there's a possibility that he could die.

I believe that Beowulf is a hero. In the story, the author said "Proclaiming that he'd go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to Hrothgar, now when help was needed." It shows how Beowulf would sail all the way to Hrothgar to save him. The author also says "That I, alone evil with the help of my men, may purge all evil from this hall." This goes back to how he sails all the with to Hrothgar and how he wants to get rid of evil to make a place good again.
