New knowledge that was gained from this learning outcome helps me in my speciality. Because I work in mental health the learning activitys related to mental health issues in the elder population help me better understand and care for the elderly population when they are on my unit. We typically do not admit the elder population but in some cases we do get the older patients. These activities have expanded my knowledge of mental health in relation to this population so I can now provide more educated and quality care to this population.
