Tasks:

1.	Capture and share “Behind the Scenes” (BTS) content during event preparation at Kem Rimba Tamu, such as setup, staff coordination, or material packing

2.	Post the update on social media (IG/FB) with a short caption to build excitement and give followers a glimpse of the work that happens before the programmed starts

Connection to Business Tourism Course:

1.	Building Engagement through Pre-Event Content

This task relates to marketing techniques that create anticipation and transparency in tourism events-skills directly taught in business tourism modules.

2.	Showcasing Operational Aspects of Tourism Services

Sharing BTS content allows potential clients to see the professionalism and preparation involved in delivering quality tourism experiences, aligning with my studies on service delivery and operations.

Issues & Challenges:

1.	Capturing Natural Yet Useful Content

It was challenging to record genuine moments without interrupting team workflow or making the content feel too staged.

2.	Writing a Caption That’s Casual Yet Professional

The tone had to be friendly and engaging but still reflect the professionalism of the brand.

Solutions Taken:

1.	Captured Candid Moments Without Disrupting Work

I observed and recorded short clips and photos while the team was naturally working, focusing on energy, teamwork, and event preparation details.

2.	Used a Teasing Caption Format

I wrote a light caption like: “Getting ready for tomorrow’s excitement! Can you guess what’s coming?” paired with hashtags and emojis to boost reach and engagement.

Tasks:

1.	Monitor and record engagement metrics from promotional posts such as likes, shares, comments, reach, and inquiries (leads) on platforms like Instagram and Facebook

2.	Analyse the data to identify which content performed best and report the insights to help improve future marketing strategies

Connection to Business Tourism Course:

1.	Understanding Digital Consumer Behavior in Tourism

This task relates to what I’ve learned about analyzing customer interaction with tourism campaigns online to evaluate effectiveness and understand preferences.

2.	Applying Tourism Marketing Analytics

Tracking responses taught me how data supports better decision-making in tourism marketing-especially in adjusting content strategies for better reach and conversion.

Issues & Challenges:

1.	Collecting Accurate and Relevant Data

Filtering which data points to focus on (e.g. likes vs. leads) and ensuring they reflected real interest or potential bookings was a challenge.

2.	Drawing Insights from Basic Metrics

Interpreting what the numbers meant-beyond just counting likes-required deeper analysis and critical thinking.

Solutions Taken:

1.	Used Meta Business Suite & Manual Logs

I used the built-in analytics on Meta Business Suite and cross-checked with manual tracking (Google Sheets) to ensure data accuracy.

2.	Identified Trends & Content Performance Patterns

I grouped posts into categories (video, poster, behind-the-scenes) and compared their results. This helped determine which type of content attracted more engagement and should be used more in future campaigns.

Tasks:

1.	Draft a short social media post highlighting a successful experience of a school or group that recently joined a programmed at Kem Rimba Tamu

2.	Include a brief story, testimonial, or feedback from the client to build trust and inspire future bookings

Connection to Business Tourism Course:

1.	Storytelling as a Tourism Marketing Tool

This task reflects what I’ve learned about using storytelling to promote tourism products-showing real experiences helps build credibility and emotional connection with potential clients.

2.	Enhancing Customer Loyalty through Post-Experience Promotion

Sharing client success stories is a strategic way to strengthen brand image and encourage word-of-mouth marketing, which are key topics in business tourism.

Issues & Challenges:

1.	Gathering Meaningful Testimonials

Some clients provided only short or general feedback, making it difficult to craft a compelling story that stands out.

2.	Balancing Professionalism and Emotion

It was important to write a post that feels authentic and heartfelt, without sounding too formal or overly casual.

Solutions Taken:

1.	Followed Up with Clients for Specific Highlights

I politely requested short quotes or moments they enjoyed most, which helped create a more personal and relatable story.

2.	Structured the Post with a Mini Narrative

I used a simple format: challenge → experience → positive outcome - making the post easy to read while still inspiring confidence in future clients.

Task:

Presenting an Idea to Supervisor and Receiving Feedback

As part of my internship at Kem Rimba Tamu, I was given the opportunity to present a marketing idea to my supervisor for feedback. The proposal included a mini campaign plan targeting school groups for an upcoming school holiday programmed, which involved suggested themes, promotional content, and platform strategy.

Connection to Business Tourism Course

1.	Tourism Product Development & Campaign Pitching

This task reflects key skills I gained from the Business Tourism course, especially in proposing tourism products and building marketing concepts suited for specific segments like school groups.

2.	Communication & Professional Presentation in the Tourism Industry

Presenting to a supervisor simulates real-world pitching situations where clear and persuasive communication is essential-an ability emphasized throughout the course.

Issues & Challenges

1.	Nervousness During Presentation

As this was my first time formally presenting an idea in a work setting, I felt nervous about whether my idea would be accepted and how to handle critical feedback.

2.	Unclear Areas in My Proposal

Some parts of my proposal lacked supporting visuals or details, which made it harder to communicate the full impact of the campaign idea.

Solutions Taken

1.	Prepared a Simple Slide Deck

To stay organized and confident, I created a visual slide presentation using Canva, outlining the objectives, target audience, and sample content to support my pitch.

2.	Accepted Feedback Constructively and Made Revisions

After receiving input from my supervisor, I made improvements to my idea and refined the content strategy. This experience taught me the value of receiving feedback as a tool for growth, not criticism.
