-We do not have a criteria for using technology in school other than our LMS, Schoology.

1. My district has a Best Instructional Practices handbook including several pages about the 4 C's. The instructional coaches are supposed to use that file plus a "training needs assessment ladder" to guide effective use of technology in our 80+ elementary, middle, and high schools.

2. In my opinion, understanding of the 5 C's by all staff (including coaches) and valued by all staff could be improved. There is still a large digital divide (with wealthier sections of our city sometimes having better tech and professional development). But, the more I work to learn about how to effectively implement technology, the more I feel prepared to say "Yes; I'm doing a good job."

At my university, there is no set standard or criteria for how faculty use technology. It is not a requirement for faculty to use technology in their classrooms, though it is recommended as a "best practice" by the instructional designers on campus. Since there are eight separate colleges, there are eight separate ways of doing things--so unfortunately, no standard for everyone.

If a faculty member is using technology in their curriculum, the way to tell if it is being used effectively is through class evaluations at the end of the semester. There is a heavy reliance on these evaluations to see how pieces of the class worked, especially something new, like a new piece of technology and many faculty use these evaluations as a way to gauge whether the tech was successful and whether they will use it again.

-Ashley Hamernik

Currently, as a sub I am unaware yet of the standards the district is using for technology. I know the school itself uses technology in all classrooms, yet there is not a specific class just for technology. It is instead incorporated into daily lessons with various applications and devices.
I believe I am using technology effectively when in a classroom, however I believe even more can be used. This is apparent when watching other teacher's lessons across the nation.
