The fleas receive it from rodents, ad when they come in contact with humans, the bacteria is passed on . The bacteria has an incubation period of 2-8 days. Then, the infected experiences a fever of 103 degrees Fahrenheit to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. Other symptoms are convulsions, vomiting, intolerance to light, delirium, and pain in the limbs. After the bacteria spreads, it finds a lymph node and it makes it swell, become painful, and dark in color. It becomes the size of a small egg or apple as it continues to duplicate. Shortly after, the person starts to cough up blood and dies.
