Rivers have three distinct habitat areas:River beds, or the water channel itself.River banks, called the “riparian zone.” These include the land, trees, and water-loving animals and plants along the channel. Floodplains, or the low, flat land spreading out from the channel. This area periodically floods during heavy rains and snow melt. Sometimes floodplains stay soggy for a long time, creating rich wetland habitat.

A river habitat refers to the environment in which living organisms can survive in and around a river. This might refer to wildlife or plants. Most people think of fish when they think of a river habitat, which is true; fish often live in these types of habitats. Other wildlife though, such as microscopic creatures that live in the water, rocks, or soil, also call rivers home. In addition, many different types of plants live along the river bed and on the sides of the river, which can function as smaller habitats.

nugget (megan)

Freshwater habitat types include rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, marshes and bogs. Although some organisms are found across most of these habitat types, the majority have more specific requirements. The water velocity, its temperature and oxygen saturation are important factors, but in river systems, there are fast and slow sections, pools, bayous and backwaters which provide a range of habitat types. Similarly, aquatic plants can be floating, semi-submerged, submerged or grow in permanently or temporarily saturated soils besides bodies of water. Marginal plants provide important habitat for both invertebrates and vertebrates, and submerged plants provide oxygenation of the water, absorb nutrients and play a part in the reduction of pollution.
-raeann

Savannas, steppe, prairie, or pampas are considered grasslands too. Depending on how they’re defined, grasslands account for between 20 and 40 percent of the world's land area. They are generally open and fairly flat, and they exist on every continent except Antarctica, which makes them vulnerable to pressure from human populations. Predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas hunt for animals like boars and wildebeests. Most of them can run extremely fast.

Caitlin:)

https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/nature/habitats/article/desert
Camels Can Go For Weeks Without Drinking Water

The ability of the camels to stay for weeks without having to drink water led to them being nicknamed “ships of the desert.” More specifically, during winter, these desert animals can survive for 6-7 months without water. Nonetheless, whenever they access to water they can drink as much as 32 gallons in one drinking session!

They Store Fat In Parts Of Their Bodies Known As Humps

Camels possess either one or two humps that are located on their backs. These humps exist for purposes of storing fats that the camels utilize for nourishment during the famine. Lack of food for a long time triggers the camel’s body to metabolize the fat into a form that can be used for nutrition purposes. As this fat is used by the camel, the hump deflates and droops until it can be refilled with more fat.

They Can Live For About 40 Years

The life span of camels is 40 years. The young ones are born white in complexion. However, as they keep growing they grow brown skin.

Humps Act As Heat Regulators For Camels

During high temperatures in the desert, fatty acids stored within the camels’ humps minimize heat insulation leading to rising in the body temperatures to equal that of the environment. Conversely, at night excess heat moves to the rest of the camel’s body to ensure its temperature is not too low compared to that of the environment.

Camel Milk Is Among The Healthiest Milk In The World

Slightly low in total fat and saturated fat compared to cow milk. It also possesses sufficient amounts of iron and vitamin C. Nutritionists state that camel milk has the ability to improve a person’s immune system, stimulates blood circulation, prevents diabetes, and improves the health of the heart.
