“Analysis of Baseball”

I picked this poem because it was the one that popped out to me the most. When I read this poem, I got images in my head about what the words were saying and meaning. I enjoy playing the sport softball which is why this poem interested me the most. It communicates the thought and idea of playing the sport, the excitement you get, and sometimes the disappointment. My pictures in my poem represent some of the key things the poem was talking about. I have a picture of a person getting struck out, a catcher catching the ball and a picture of a person slamming the ball in the air with his bat. My final picture shows the feeling of baseball. It shows how people come together to watch the game that they love.

“Slam, Dunk, and Hook”

I picked Slam, Dunk, and Hook because I love the game of basketball and it really speaks to me. I picked the pictures that I did because it represents basketball and some of my favorite all-time players. The poem communicates to me that players are driving and doing all these moves that no one knew they had but they still did them. Amazing finishes and shots have been taken in the game of basketball, dunks and different moves to score is magnificent to me. My pictures represent that the poem’s message is related to the tricky moves that they do to score. Also, the things that they do, no one even knew that they could pull off but they still did.

"Analysis of baseball"
I picked the poem “Analysis of Baseball” because I like baseball, and I also like how it was written in short choppy sentences because it was easier to understand what she was saying. It communicates with me the steps of baseball. She explains how baseball is played, and what objects are used while playing it. The pictures express the story because I added photos that made sense with what she was saying. Like when it says “It’s about the ball, the bat, and the mitt. Ball hits bat, or ball hits mitt.” I added a guy hitting the ball with a bat, and a guy catching the ball with the mitt.

"Slam, Dunk, And Hook"
I choose the poem “Slam, Dunk, and Hook” to create my picture poem collage. I liked this poem better than “The Bells”, “The Analysis of Baseball, and “Jabberwocky”, because these poems were harder for me to perceive and hard for me to describe what that were trying to say in some parts. I picked “Slam, Dunk, and Hook” because basketball is one of the sports that I play and is one of the sports I enjoy the most, it also related to me more than the other poems. The poem is easy to read, and understand, while it uses the more difficult metaphors about basketball I was able to get a grasp around it to know what the author was meaning to say. I used Kansas University men’s basketball photos, because KU is my favorite basketball ball team, and I was able to get good, high quality, and real emotion in those photos.

"The bells"
I chose “The Bells” because you have four or five different “parts” of it to where you can choose which part of the story you want to make a collage about. It has the dark side, and the light side. This poem communicates life to me, the way it starts out with sleigh bells and wedding bells but then drastically changes into alarm bells and church bells for a funeral. My collage communicates the wedding part of the poem more than anything else. I chose wedding rings, wedding bells, and bouquets because they represent that part of the poem.

“Slam, Dunk, & Hook”

I picked the poem “Slam, Dunk, & Hook” because I enjoy to watch and play basketball. Basketball is a very hard working sport that takes all your effort and this poem really helps to understand that. This sport is more than just passing the ball around and trying to make a basket. This poem communicates that basketball takes dedication, hard work, and all you got. The picture in my collage represent all the work and joy you get out of this sport and it really catches the eye. I love watching basketball and especially my favorite team in all and that is why I really enjoyed this poem.

"Jabberwocky"

I picked Jabberwocky because while we were reading it somehow drew my attention. The author used very interesting words that he made up in this poem, like brillig, toves, gyre, grimble, wabe, mome, and raths. Carroll uses figurative language to show to you what is going on in his poem, to communicate. It might be difficult to understand what sometimes he is saying. I used these pictures because it shows you what a Jabberwock looks like. Also it shows to you why in the poem they were told to stay away from it.

“The Bells”

The reason I picked “Bells” was because the poem had so much meaning, from being happily married to someone’s death. The communication that I felt from the poem, was joy from the silver bells happiness from the wedding bells danger from the alarum bells and sadness from the iron bells. The pictures that I picked for my collage represented the different types of bells, that the author had wrote from tiny silver bells to iron bells I didn’t want to pick just on type of bells because all the poems are better together.

"Jabberwocky"
I chose the poem Jabberwocky, because the poem was interesting and different, with its unique word choice and its suspense and different emotions. The poem had senses of fear of the jabberwocky, “Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!'” And the poem was like reading a children’s book, it was fascinating and it kept the reader’s attention. I also chose it because I love Alice in the Wonderland, it’s a whole new world filled with different things. The author had a very creative poem and was one of kind, “Jabberwocky” communicated to me because of the senses of fear, bravery, and imagination. I could picture it in my head perfectly. My collage relates to the poem from the Alice in the wonderland animated and the movie.

"Jabberwocky"
I choose Jabberwocky because of the fantasy behind the poem and the made up words. When I was younger I loved mythical creatures and mythical books so it reminds me of past years. So the Jabberwocky story really hit a subject of made up creatures and words for me personally. The pictures I choose go with the story because the pictures are Jabberwocky’s. There from the story Alice and wonderland and it shows these mythical creatures like dragons. Rolling back to my memories from being a little kid and liking mythical creatures.
