Lucy's Feedback: I like that the pieces of scrap paper that you used were also connected to the food theme. I think one thing you can add is just to finish the effiel tower. I think something you can take away is maybe the blue sticker in the corner because it doesn't really fit with the other pieces

I made this painting with oil pastels that represents the sunset next to the beach, during the summer when I am spending time with my family and created a lot of memories.

What revisions did you do?

I tried to make the colors less dark on the drawing and tried to use a pencil to outline details but it didn't work. I also added a piece of paper on the outside to make it look like a border(cropped out of the picture).

I made snowman with water colors, and this represents a time during christmas I went back to my grandparents house and it was snowing and my family decided to build a snowman, which made my family become more close.

What revisions did you do?

I added more details and I used a white chalk to add snow on top of the trees, and I added more snowflakes, more trees, and I added another layer of the color for the scarf and the hat.

I made this collage by first drawing a Eiffel tower in the middle with a pencil, then I started added images from the magazines and newspaper parts, I added stuff mostly related to paris to give off the vibe, then I used water color and mixed a color that looks like coffee, then added it onto the paper. I also used a cup to create the coffee stain. after that I outlined the tower to make it stand out more because it was the main point of the whole drawing.

What revisions did you do?

The revisions I made was adding an outline to the tower, to male it standout, I also took out the sticker because inn the feedback i got the sticker does not belong so I decided to rip it out of the paper.

What aspects of the materials, techniques, and composition contribute to the sense of struggle and/or play in these works?

His choice of materials, like metal, wood, or even blood, along with his abstract compositions, gives people a feeling of struggle or play by showing tension, movement, and personal connection

My drawing in todays class felt different from last class because, last class was my first time approaching blind contour drawing and I had no idea how to draw t without looking, and my hand eye coordination was terrible, after lots of practice from last class, during todays class I felt more confident when drawing blindly and had an idea what to focus on when drawing blindly.

I feel like this drawing was the most successful because it was an outline of a figure and the features where really easy to detect and I drew the outline that matches it well.

The biggest challenge in maintaining hand-eye coordination during this drawing was tying to keep it in one line and have as much details as possible, it is challenging because you have to do it in one try and it would look funky.

one of the hardest things while drawing is finding the right measurements and distances between the lines and shapes that make it look realistic but also no weird. It makes it more accurate and that is really what the audience will notice and judge first before details. Contour drawing this picture helped me make it look more accurate and helped me on the way to making a polished final image in the end.

In the video, they explained that the blind contour drawing helps us let go of the realistic and polished version and helps us focus on just getting the shape right, basically warming up for contour drawing. That way, we can look back at the blind version and notice new things we did that we might have skipped when we can see it because of our brain's built in correcter.

It definitely helped me add much more detail part by part without having to worry about the general shape. I could do shading and sketching at a lower level which overall gave the artwork a better look than it might have. However, If I had improved my contour drawing in the beginning by drawing based on a picture instead of outlining the person, I think the final result would have been much more accurate and would look less strange.

When adding details from the reference photo, how did you balance accuracy with your own creative choices in media and mark-making to strengthen the final outcome?

Specifically for the shoes and legs, I stuck the closest by what I saw in the picture and adapted it to make sure it looked the best that it could when drawn. Unfortunately, when I got nearer to the top of the paper, the clothes and face were a bit rushed and I wasn't sure how to give them the same accuracy and dimension that I had brought in previously. shading also got more difficult when It came to the hand and hair because I didn't have enough variation in my materials. If I had had those, I would definitely have found a better balance with my creative choices in media and mark-making to strengthen the final outcome.

By focusing more on drawing grid by grid it helped me on focusing on each detail and made each part look more cohesive because it was more accurate.

Which parts of the process felt easier with the grid, and which parts were still challenging?

With the gird it made drawing the details easier and shading but parts that were still challenging was drawing the whole outline.

How might you apply what you learned from the grid method to future drawings?

I will definitely draw or keep in mind grid positioning because I noticed the ease with which I could position the different parts of the artwork. In general, keeping that in mind will just help me with focusing on the other elements of the drawing.

Artist influence Alberto Giacometti - something interesting about their artwork is how they made all their sculptures very skinny and at the same time have different poses and not fall down. I would apply this in my own way by making a clay sculpture on the one i chose and draw it out by using contour.

Material of Choice - Clay to create the sculpture, Pen and pencil to draw it out, paper to draw it on.

How did you ensure variety within your sketches / ideas ?

Explore different posture and gesture Alberto Giacometti have created and colors, themes, and style to have multiple variations. so that I have options to chose from when I start my project.

What themes or stylistic exploration do you see appearing in your sketches ?

based on the influence I got from Alberto Giacometti's work, I noticed that their characters were skinny and had a lot of texture and expressiveness. I like the style and how it looks and I think I could choose from a lot what it represents for me.

By exploring a variety of materials impacted my overall vision by first using clay and sculpting it, using curves and wires to create the overall shape, to express what it is trying to show, and then I used colors to sketch it out and by using color pencil to express the feeling of the sculpture.

How did you select and combine 3 drawing skills for your project, and what changes did you make along the way to refine your work?

I selected gesture drawing, positive shape contour, and detailed contour to combine for my project. During the time when I am drawing my three sketches I decided that I could do the sketches separately so I could have an idea on how to combine it for the final drawing, then I decided to add some colors for the changes. For my final sketch I am going to make a larger version and Im thinking that I am going add all the skills together. first use pencil to draw the gesture out then use colored pencils to highlight the details.

I am using colored pencil for my gesture drawing, outline, and details. Then, I will add on with red-ish pink color to create depth and pink would represent the other side and feeling. the different shades of pink shows that one is confident and the other is scared. there is a mixture of the colors in this center because there are tares that shows that its faking the confidence and it is actually afraid.The I added a podium showing how it is confident but the podium is small also showing the weak.

Where did you revise, adjust, or problem-solve during the process, and how did these changes affect your decisions for your final project?

At first, I struggled drawing the skinny arms and the exact detail.Then I figured out how to use different colors of red to help me draw the different skills and to show it better. At first, I was only going to do pencil but I realized that it was going to show the details and couldn't tell what was the outline, gesture, and details.

I incorporated how I could use more color, fill in the white areas, and make it look more bold. I will fill in the colors and make it look like the colors are more solid.

the elements that are risky are emphasis balance and proportion, because some times I either mess up or don't know how to include this into my art for example proportion I mess up and sometimes draw the head too big and then i wont have the rest to draw anything else.l I can overcome these hesitations by having a better measurement and then scale properly.

When focusing on negative space this process helped me with focusing on the overall outline and it helped with the proportion by seeing how big each object is so that ill know how the size of the spaces would be. The drawing techniques i found useful was the detailed contour because it make me focus on every little detail which makes my artwork seem more interesting. Simplifying the drawing into black and white help by showing a contrast between the negative space and making it obvious, and draw more attention to it.

I am almost done on creating this, I would just need to add 2 more abandoned buildings and ad more detail to the roads and add more strings so it related to my chapter.

the part where have to shade lighter and gradually shade darker, felt familiar, but wa not familiar was having to switch pencils throughout.

One challenge I experienced was find the darker and bring parts, for this I think the object was really hard to determine where was the brightest surface when shading.

These ideas are helping me improve areas like smoother shading, clearer textures, and consistent lighting, while also making the piece more realistic and successful.

This artwork also reminded me of my own art because I used line work to create texture and make different areas stand out. My favorite part of this artwork is probably the van and the way every section of it has a different pattern inside. I also really like the flowing wave like lines in the background because they make the piece feel energetic and connected. Overall, I think this artwork is very creative and inspiring, and it gives me ideas I could try using in my own future artwork.
