I think grief can be a combination of two things. (1) Sadness, you miss the person that has just died, and (2) Relief, if the person who died was terminally ill, death can be relief for them and those who love them.

I think there are times you can feel grief that doesn’t emanate from losing a loved one. I think you can also feel grief from losing part of yourself too... for instance, becoming a Mum and losing a sense of ‘who you were’ prior to motherhood, generally getting older, going through menopause or having life-alternating medical conditions that may require a loss of independence, permanent reliance on somebody else or maybe a big physical change such as hair loss or amputation for example.
There’s definitely times in life where you can grieve for parts of you you’ve lost.

To me grief is the empty, sad, feelings after a permanent loss - that has regret attached to it - and frustration that the loss cannot be undone.

Personally, I believe grief is one of those feelings which is hard to overcome. The loss of an individual who has had such an impact on your life can leave an emptiness in your life, a change in the person you once was as well as altering the way you perceive yourself and the life you live/once lived.

I think grief is loosing someone or something that has meant something to you. It's a feeling of emptiness, loss, despair and often frustration.

I think grief is trying to accept that someone you love isn't there anymore. It can affect people in so many different ways and can last years. Grief is having memories of your loved one but knowing you wont be able to make new ones with them.

I think grief is something that affects a person's feelings and behaviour, at the loss of someone or something close to them. I think also that grief affects each person differently. Some people may find it easier to deal with grief, whereas some people may find it more difficult to deal with.

Grief for me is the feeling of loneliness and despair after a loss of some kind. Whether that is the loss of someone or something close to you through death or by other means which no longer allows you to be close with them.

I think that grief is a feeling of loss, which also may lead to frustration/anger. I think overcoming feelings of grief takes time and it takes some people longer than others.
