(Ana)

Natasha- positive impact for young people and organisation. raise awareness and visibility

Jorobo- have an amazing impact on a person. when you are bullied you think you are alone and can have an impact on Mental Health. Provide them with a safe place and you are worth it. Turning the negative into a positive. Work with schools and it is really important to receive feedback. Feedback would be a good way to measure impact. Use social media and internet to raise awareness, partnering with other organisations that are happy sharing our work. Partnership work with Minds charity in Manchester.

Natasha- for evaluation we can use google forms. Can use Zoom and interactive features on social media. Number of likes and comments (analytics).

Danielle- it is difficult to think of the impact when I don't have a set idea at the moment. The project I have been working on it has helped me see how I can measure impact. Case studies are really helpful as it allows participants to put a voice to their experience and has a positive impact. See physical improvements when working on green spaces. Word of mouth is the best way to advertise although you can use social media as well. Working in partnership with organisations that can sign post people to our projects.

Jack- connecting young people with opportunities, grow their skills and confidence. Encourage them to get more involved in the community and be proud of where they come from. Measuring can use feedback forms, use case studies. Connect people.

Social media very powerful way get share impact of the project

Does the relevance have to be linked to local issues or European issues?

Answer - Solidarity Projects need to be localised projects that aim to help the community in which the group reside. A specific societal issue should be identified by the group and activities should be developed to tackle this issue. Nonetheless, it is indeed possible to select a societal issue that is prevalent in both the local community and wider European society. This could include more universal topics such as racial or gender inequality, climate change, poverty or the refugee crisis.

The jargon used on the application could be scary for young people as they have never created a bid.

Answer - The UK NA recognises that some of the ESC terminology can be overwhelming for newcomers to the programme. Please note, however that Solidarity Projects have been designed with young people in mind. As a result, it is not expected that application proposals will be to same standard as those from more experienced organisations. The UK NA encourage you to be authentic with your grant proposal. Try not to get too caught up with jargon and complex terminology as this could detract from the overall clarity and quality of your application. To learn more about the application process, please find the following useful link - https://www.eusolidaritycorps.org.uk/media/123/download

Young people might need a coach to help them write the project and/ or have sessions to help them write bids.

Answer - Solidarity Projects must be initiated, developed and implemented by young people themselves. This is a mandatory programme requirement. Organisations can assist young people in the administrative act of submitting the application form on the group's behalf but they should not physically write the proposal for the group. Concerning, the involvement of a coach, it is not advised that these individuals assist in the writing of the grant proposal. In line with Programme Rules, the coach may support the group of young people in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of their project and can play different roles based on the needs of the group. This really depends on the specificities of your Solidarity Project.
