What innovative ideas have you come across that can keep you professionally renewed and inspired?
I think the one thing that I have taken away from this PD so far is that there are ways for students to still be creative and use the technology. I am hoping to spend some more time using Clips and have students dive deeper into major works of art. They can pan and zoom across paintings and sketches to highlight specific details and then illustrate repetition of line and shape with labels and stickers.

How can you go "big" in your classroom, using some ideas you’ve gotten from this PD? One idea that I have had is to have some of my more advanced students create an iMovie about the process/steps they took while creating one piece of artwork. So many students try to rush and complete things so quickly I am hoping by doing this they will understand more that it is about the process and not the end product. I
would expect them to do some reflecting throughout the movie and take some in progress photographs or short videos with commentary to help explain.

What's a new way you can be creative in class and enhance your students excitement? There was so many different modules throughout this PD that it was hard to focus on just one but I did find the Instant Alpha tool in Pages to be interesting. This tool is great for being able to remove the background of different images. Students would not only be able to use this often in my class but could definitely use this in other subjects. By removing background areas of an image, allows for more interesting composition and creates more possibilities when layering images.

Kids Deserve it Book Study
How will this PD inform your instruction and impact your students in the future?
If I could sum up the chapters so far in this book it would be to go the extra mile for your students. To empower them through modern teaching techniques, build their confidence, not put boundaries on their learning, and deliver the best you do them everyday, despite what maybe be going on personally outside your classroom. I will remember to approach my classroom by using some of the great advice in each of these categories.

What innovative ideas have you come across that can keep you professionally renewed and inspired?
I think the idea raising up the students confidence through notes, emails home,, and shining a little spotlight on them throughout the semester resonates with me. A little extra shout out, builds confidence. I have them hold up work in my room and 3 will go to the front so I can sing their praises. I think when the news travels home the parents are able to be a part of the joy and offer positive reinforcement and this can continue to boost confidence outside the school.

What opportunities do you see for your classroom using this PD? I have taken the idea of technology and connecting first of all and started a Twitter and Instagram page. The students love Instagram at this age. It wins hands down. Seeing themselves on my page they get excited and follow the likes of their art work. I think it helps the school relate to their age group and interests a little. I also have begun to flip my classroom and pre-record a few lessons so that students can begin a new lesson while their peers may be finishing a lesson. I am ironing out some video kinks and what is the best way to present the lesson. Right now I am filming in segments and labeling in google videos and send them the link in Schoology. The videos are of my teaching just as I would a normal demonstration but I can move quickly because their are no distractions! So win on my part. The students were so quiet with their headphones on doing the lesson that I am hooked!

How will this PD inform your instruction and impact your students in the future? This PD has forced me to explore Apple Apps and gain a better understanding of their capabilities. I will be able to better instruct my students on the iPads because of this PD.
-How does this PD promote the four C's in your classroom? There are endless opportunities within each of the 8 Apple iPad Apps to communicate, collaborate, think critically, and creatively. I find that Apple products in general promote the 4 C's
-What will you add to make this PD even better in terms of meeting your needs as a professional? Taking the quizzes to test knowledge of each App was helpful in making me recognize areas where I needed to spend more time learning. I am a kinesthetic /visual learner so I will find hands on time to work with these Apps to better meet my needs as a professional.

List the benefits and challenges of doing PD this way (LNC Choice). What changes would you make?
There are several benefits to doing our professional developments this way. The first is that I was actually able to choose what I wanted to learn about. This gives me a little more motivation when having to work on it. The second benefit is that I'm able to work on it on my own time. Which means that I'm able to work on it from my couch. One challenge that I've encountered while working on this PD is that I only seem to work on it when it's time to do this reflection. Overall, I like this method of PD, however, the only PD I get this school year is becoming an Apple Teacher. It would be nice to learn some other things through the more traditional PDs, as well.

What is an idea you have had that you wanted to try, but haven't?
One idea that I've been wanting to try, but haven't yet, is iMovie with the iPad. I'm still playing with it and learning all that it has to offer, but I think it'd be pretty neat to implement. As of right now, my goal is to video the students doing something (maybe in groups), then putting all the clips into a video, and watching it together as a class. I'll keep you updated!

How can you go "big" in your classroom, using some of the ideas you've gotten from this PD?
One way that I can go "big" in the classroom is by implementing Garageband for the iPad. Garageband is a line of digital audio workstations that would allow students to create, record, play, and share music. I'd love to be able to implement this into Literacy. Maybe an End of Unit project! Now that's big!

What is an idea you have had that you have wanted to try but haven't?

One idea that I would like to try using Apple technology is for the students to create their own presentations about their art experience so that they can then share it with the class or with their parents. I would like for them to be able to reflect on their experiences in art and create a presentation using the apps in Apple. This idea would be beneficial because they get to learn about and use the apps while also create something personal from it.

How does this PD promote the four C's in your classroom?

This PD really encompasses all of the 4 C's because it provides so many useful tools. Students can use the apps directly to create meaningful work that uses their critical thinking skills while communicating, collaborating and exercising their creativity. I feel that these apps are inherently relevant and meaningful to this process. I love that they can use apps to brainstorm, gather resources and then tell compelling stories in an authentic and individualized manner.

How can you go "big" in your classroom, using some ideas you've gotten from this PD?

I would love to use this platform to sort of flip the classroom. By that, I mean, I think it would be exciting if the students had an opportunity to be the teacher. Once they have mastered a concept or technique, they could use the technology to create their own video lessons, with added pictures and text, which could then be used for whole group or individual use.
