- In 1970, she asked the US District Court to declare TX law of forbiding abortions as unconstitutional.
- Abortions were prohibited in TX, unless it was needed to protect the mother's life.
- On January 22,1973 the Supreme Court ruled the legalization of abortion across the US.
- Jane declared this law was violating her 1st,4th, 5th, 9th, and 14th amendment rights.
-  Due to the 14th amendment, the Supreme Court concluded that women had the right to terminate a pregnancy.
- Individuals who planned on having an abortion could only go through with it during their first trimester. However,  states varied upon their decisions over the second and third trimesters.

-This impacts our society today because women have the decision whether or not to have an abortion. In present day, just like it has always been, this is a controversial case. There are groups of people who are pro-life and there are also groups of people who support womens rights, therefore advocated for pro-choice. This is a sensitive topic that will always have varying opinions.
