I would want social workers not to be afraid of diagnosing clients because it has pros in helping empower clients with an understanding of their experiences and gain a sense of community. I would also tell social workers to approach diagnoses with curiosity and be careful when labeling clients going through all the steps to ensure you are accurately diagnosing your clients.

A diagnosis is just a small piece of understanding what a client is going through and figuring out how to treat them well. People have many different relational, cultural, and other factors that impact what they are experiencing and you should incorporate that into your work with each client.
