My first two years of teaching I taught first grade but then moved to kindergarten and have been there ever since. I attended college at Northwest Missouri State University, and minored in early education. I love teaching at the primary level and at this point cannot imagine myself anywhere else. I am all about collaboration as an educator and love working with an amazing team that I can bounce ideas off of. I aim to make my classroom a safe, nurturing environment where all my students can see success! While technology can make things easier and even enhance what we already do both personally and professionally, there must be a balance! In my personal life, I feel like technology is essential to how I communicate with others. Through simple apps or even email, I can stay in touch with people in my life at the touch of a button. Personally, technology also makes my life easier in so many ways, whether it be using apps to find the best deal on a product or looking up videos to teach myself a new skill. Technology can also be extremely helpful in my professional life as a kindergarten teacher! Currently, I use apps and programs like SeeSaw, ESGI, and Kahoot! to formally assess my students and track their progress and growth. This data can then be communicated to families and show me students' strengths and weaknesses. While I feel very comfortable in using technology to track my student's progress and create independent tasks for them, a goal I have with technology is to work more on embedding it into my instruction in ways that enhance the learning of my students and make things more meaningful for them, rather than just using it as an add-on to a unit or lesson!
