         <description><![CDATA[<div>Actually, the stems also contain some chlorophyl, which is why they are green, which means that they do photosynthesise! However, the amount of food they produce is MUCH MUCH less than the amount of food produced by the leaves. For the P4 Science Syllabus, we focus on the MAIN FUNCTION of each part of the plant, and the stem's main function is to hold the plant upright and to transport food, water and mineral salts.</div>]]></description>

Before it rains, there are many tiny water droplets in the sky, which is what clouds are made out of.<br><br>You will notice that the clouds appear red/orange/yellow in cities or areas with a lot of lights. This is because the light from the street lights (which are usually orangish) shines into the sky as well. This reaches the clouds and is reflected back into our eyes. Hence, we see red/orange/yellow.<br><br>If you go far away from the city lights, a cloudy sky will appear much darker, as there would be less light coming from the ground.</div>]]></description>

Brittle means that they do not bend and will shatter break when a large force is applied. Some materials are strong but not brittle, like plastic. The lower the density, the better that object is at floating.<br><br>Wood has a lot of air spaces inside it, so it has a very low density and can float.<br><br>You are right that wood absorbs water. After a VERY LONG time, wood will absorb water and sink. However, this takes so long that we don't really see it happen.
