"Well physical changes occur when substances change states.  For example a solid turning into a liquid, or a liquid turning into a gas."  She explained.  The students nodded in unison.
"An example of a chemical change is an endothermic reaction. That is when a product is absorbing heat. An exothermic reaction is when the reaction produces heat." Ms.Thompson proclaimed.

We mixed the water and the kool-aid pack. The water is the solvent and the kool-aid mix is the solute. We found out when mixing water and kool-aid makes a physical change. The water is a substance. And when you mix all the things together you get a solution.

She put ice in her coffee to cause an endothermic reaction. After she made her coffee she decided to exothermically make bacon. Once she had cooked the bacon she realized that it was a chemical change.
