Even though the rumors about his tragic career brought his idolized image to an all time low, he always lived up to his name as “The King of Pop”. Ultimately, his career as an exemplary music artist with prodigious skills came to an end when his evident drug abuse took a toll. Throughout history, there have been many tragic characters which all have relatable flaws to one another. Michael Jackson shows clear relation to the tragic hero Hamlet, the protagonist in the play which goes by the same name, written by William Shakespeare. This character directly relates to The venerated artist, Michael Jackson, because they both show very similar aspects in their personalities. These tragic hero’s both show abusive and deceiving personalities to the public which in the end lead to their downfall. Therefore, what surely brought M.J’s  life to an end was his abusive lifestyle, but what is left to wonder is whether social media itself had a malicious effect on this tragic hero, eventually leading to his death. Furthermore, what relation might there be between tragic heros which significantly leads them to such downfall?

As his abusive personality and sexual accusations shed light, they ended up taking a huge toll on Jackson's career,  leading to the irreversible damage to his public image. On the other hand, Hamlet was able to ruin his image as the innocent and smart prince by proceeding to solve the murderous case of his father's death. Both Jackson and Hamlet can be portrayed as tragic heroes as their once wonderful lives of fame and prosperity quickly shattered into a world of public hatred.
