"This statement solidified Maines’ irrepressible need for media attention." This is talking about the Times Magazine interview with Maines, and portrays Maines as an attention seeker. This statement is unfair because it encourages the public to portray Maines as a bratty attention seeker.

Four years ago, Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks spoke harshly against President Bush after Toby Keith released a song that was associated with fighting in Iraq. She, along with the rest of the Dixie Chicks, have acted out in other ways since then. Many fans have been very hurt by the whole situation.

Maines has tried many times to make of the situation, but has been shut down by media. Now, most of the media is unforgiving and biased against them no matter what they say or do to apologize for their actions.

TIME magazine did a cover on the Dixie Chicks and the title of the magazine was ¨Radical Chicks.¨ The title of the article was ¨Chicks in the Line of Fire. This is an attempt to show that the Dixie Chicks were making a bold statement and doing something that most country singers would not do, being radical

This is referring to Maines' apology for saying the hurtful words toward President Bush and the rest of the military. It demonstrates Maines as trying to cause more attention, rather than make the situation better.
