My two non-negotiables are running and reading. Not both at once! Some days I need running - need to feel my heart racing, want to be outside and know even if I am slow and it's awful whilst I am out, I will feel better for it. Other days, a cup of tea and a good book is just the medicine! I think self-awareness is so important in effectively managing stress.

Stress for me tends to come when I feel overwhelmed with tasks or thoughts. So for me its writing lists. Having everything written down and prioritised helps me feel I have control again. Some days I have lots of lists! I would like to say walking my dog helps with stress but as she is nervous and reactive that can be quite stressful itself. I sometimes get home and write a list of what I need to do better on the next dog walk :-)

For me, exercise and breathing help manage my stress. Yoga, weights, walking - whatever I can fit in. I’m lucky to have a large dog that needs regular long walks and he has a habit of keeping me calm and generating a lot of endorphins !

I like to be outside, either walking with my dog, or sitting quietly in the garden and listening to the birds and wildlife. So long as the dog doesn't chase the birds away!

Another favourite, particularly through the wintry, colder days, is doing Diamond Art. It's a very mindful activity and I can sit at my desk doing it for hours at a time, and I completely lose track of time and everything else.

Walk, walk, walk! From when I had my children, I have always found getting outdoors makes everything better. Whether that be strolling along the river, a walk to the local coffee shop or getting out into the local woods. I feel I can breath again and when the sunshine is as good as it is at the moment, a burst of Vitamin D is just what I need to clear my head.....
