CRTs have a distinctive funnel shape. At the very back of a monitor is an electron gun. The electron gun fires electrons towards the front through a vacuum which exists in the tube of the monitor. The gun can also be referred to as a cathode - hence the electrons fired forward are called Cathode Rays.

Photoshop is a bitmap editing software, and is used mainly for photo manipulation. Although Photoshop is a great software overall, it has its drawbacks. Photoshop is not able to turn a bad quality image into a good quality image. It may be able to make slight improvements, but it will still be a bad image. For example, if a photo was out of focus, Photoshop would not be able to refocus the image. Photoshop is one of the better raster softwares that you can have, and as such, most of the problems that it has are down to the limitations of bitmap images themselves. Photoshop costs around £10 a month, which can be easily beaten by open source softwares.

Laser limitations:
•The laser takes time to warm up before actually being able to print anything
•Toner has a more expensive price upfront despite its "long lasting-ness"
•If the toner leaks from the printer it is incredibly hard to clean or remove
•Can only handle materials that are NOT heat sensitive
•Can only print simple graphics or text, more complex images are usually blurred or of low quality
•Generally larger than most inkjet printer
Inkjet limitations:
•Costs much more to tun in the long term than a laser printer
•Uses water based ink so the printed images are susceptible to water damage and fading
•The cartridges waste lots of ink through cleaning themselves on a regular basis
•Generally take longer to print than laser printers
•Have low capacity for paper storage within the machine, and usually have no collecting tray for printed papers

SSDs (solid state drives) has many limitations, such as, the price per byte is expensive, relative to the HDDs. They were volatile memory and requires a constant power supply. lastly, they were simply bigger than their counterpart, HDDs. The cost per gigabyte for an SSD comes to around £1.50, on the other hand, HDDs cost around 15 to 20p per gigabyte for their storage. The HDD consumes a higher amount of power than the SDD, to rotate the magnetic platter. Also, it is less durable that its counter part, the SDDs. HDDs are also considerably slower than SDDs as they boot slower as well as some data being fragmented due to the rotary recording surface.

Adobe illustrator is a vector graphics software that can also handle raster images. However, Illustrator is not designed specifically for raster images like Photoshop, and this means that it has a smaller range of functions that deal with raster images, such as not being able to include pixel art. Illustrator requires a steep learning curve to know how to use it properly. Illustrator costs £19.97 up to £25.28 per month, which other, open source softwares can be almost as good at no cost to download and use.
