Although the source claims that 40,000 BC was when “Cave Paintings became a way of communicating”.People have been storing information since the first cave paintings (Between 100,000 - 70,000 BC). The earliest cave paintings discovered were in Blombos Cave. This is important as the location of Blombos Cave shows where humans could have possibly originated.

The storage of information has gone from “Cave Paintings [being the main] way of communicating” to “cloud-based services [that are] used for convenient storage and access [of] files”. This shows how far we have come as a species when it comes to storing information. It is truly impressive how we have gone from putting dyes on the walls of caves to storing data “in the cloud”.

Jay Ankeney claims in her article that “Yet while stored intelligence can lead to productivity, sharing it over a network is increasingly challenging for IT departments in today's corporate environments.” This quote shows that people that work for networks and IT departments store information on a daily basis.
